Am I a bad man (I bought a bike on ebay w/o asking wife)

Ok I just bought a mountain bike on ebay for $615.00 I couldn't pass it up, the frame for the same bike (just frame and rear shock) sold for $500.00 is this sufficient JUSTIFICATION?

Does this mean I am a bad man?

Does it mean I am whippped since I am asking the question,

More importantly how can I justify it to her when she comes home.

BTW I did ask her about buying a dual suspension sometime in the near future but we never really decided, but it was to good a deal to resist.. :(

Any advice or am I to be sacrificed when she returns, and btw she said she was distraught that she hasn't bought me a Xmas present, so maybe she can give me this ;) (wishful thinking...)

No, just a bad husband. :p

No, just be prepared to take your lumps and maybe she'll get over it - eventually.

I'd run with that angle. It's the best chance you have. :)

No, more like "dead man walking". ;)

No, it means you're a good hubby.

Don't, you can't....be honest and tell her the truth about how the deal was too much temptation for you and you know you shouldn't have but you did and you're very sorry you didn't wait to talk to her first. You know it, she will know it; best to just throw yourself on the mercy of the court.

Besides, wives like it when you admit you're wrong like that. Just keep agreeing with her when she says how selfish and wrong it was of you to do it and I give ya about an 80% chance of getting to keep it. ;)

It was a hella good deal :p

Thx for advice Dig, I think she will actually take it ok. I talked to her about it last night kinda vaguely, but I thought the minimum the bike would go for was $850, so I was like I have to bid just in case...Oh and btw I was doing a favor last night for my bro, finding him a road bike on ebay cause his connection is slow, so I stumbled onto it by accident.

I've gotten a lot of experience doing stupid things like that and having to 'fess up to the wife, I've got it down to a science now. (Actually both of us do, it's kind of amusing when I sit back and think about it.)

My last biggy was my X800, and $469 was a god-awful lot to explain away for a viddy card...so much so that I STILL can't justify spending that much on it nor believe I did and still have it. Methinks the only reason for that is my wife knows I got some serious problems in me brain with stuff like that and I went into a bit of a panic when my 9700 died.

She usually forgives me my shortcomings like that though because of my over-whelming positive contributions, at least she says so. ;)

BTW-Happy 2000th post! :D

Pfft. I bought my last two vehicles without telling my wife. :devilish: . OK. one of them was a gift for her, a used VW Cabrio. So she was happy about that one. :D

I just preordered a PSP valuepack with a game for 600 us$
didn't tell my wife also... and not planning for now

How about spent more than US$1,300 buying Nikon D70 and accessories without telling anyone? Fortunately I have no wife (yet) :)
I am not going to tell my family how much it really cost, though :devilish:

She was fine with it by the way. She was even happy b/c it was such a good deal, and like I said we had discussed the idea of buying on at some foggy time in the future.

Phew (mops brow).

Actually the only bad thing she said was that "now whatever she got me for christmas I would be more excited about the bike".

Woo-hoo! Congratulations and give her some extry hugs for being super-cool. 8)

My wife is being sweet to me today too; she said she'd make sure I had some free time to play with my OCZ DDR booster-thingy later just 'cause she knows I really, really want to. :D
