Alien Isolation

I think it should work like Dead Space or Amnesia. But it could be much worse. Save stations are usually fairly nearby.

I was a little concerned about the save stations at first, but they are spaced so closely together that it really doesn't bother me. So far I feel like the devs struck a fine balance here. They're far enough apart from each other that progress feels meaningful and earned, but not so far apart as to become frustrating.

I just arrived at mission 7 [on hard], and I'm having a blast. Sure, save system is unforgiving, and mistakes almost always lead to death, but this game is survival horror and it should be hard. I'm having a lot of fun evading alien.

My two videos [first one exploration, second one evading of Alien]:

review on ars concluded:

EDIT:
just read Eurogamer's review.
"another the use of audio recognition to allow the Alien to 'hear' any noises you make in real life."

maybe Arstechnica reviewer was yelling-scared most of the time, thus alerting the alien LOL. Thats why he said the alien always found him, wherever he hides.

I was suspect, he was speaking about Android, the Android when they see you, will never let you ( lure them to a place and kill them ). Or maybe because he have been "magically "killed by the Alien when ramping in vent. ( Its not because you dont see him, that it cant see you or hear you lol )

The AI of the Alien is as today one of the best procedural one never made. A simple thing, dont keep your detector power on, the Alien can hear the bip bip bip, and when he hear it, you are dead.

AT first i was not sure about the game,.. hiding, luring, sneaking is not allways fun... but reading peoples comment it seems you go in, and you will never get out of it. Sure its not an action games,, you will not run with your shotgun and kill thousand of aliens ).. But it is not intended to be. And basically you will sue more than any action games ..

Ofc, this is the type of games, some will like, some will hate..

Face-Off: Alien: Isolation
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-alien-isolation-face-off

"First impressions of Alien: Isolation suggested parity between the PS4 and Xbox One versions, with both sporting native 1080p visuals while sharing an extensive range of assets and graphical effects. Performance is an issue though, with PS4 commanding a distinct advantage thanks to a more consistent frame-rate and a complete lack of screen tear."

On cases like this I would like for developers to add least give the option to select 900P for a more stable framerate/screen tear free game on the Xbox One side. On a game that depends on immersion like this one, having the screen tearing for practically the whole game can take you out of the experience.

"Practically the whole game" huh? I'm 7hours in and it only happened twice. Shader aliasing throughout the whole game on all platforms... now THAT takes you out of the experience...

Don't shoot the messenger ;), I'm just basing my opinion on the DF framerate video, where it does tear a lot. Now I do recognize that tearing is not as Distracting/Noticeable for everyone, and that's why I wrote "having the screen tearing for practically the whole game can take you out of the experience" instead of "having the screen tearing for practically the whole game will take you out of the experience"

"Frame-rates are extremely variable, with gameplay averaging 28fps for prolonged periods, with some noticeable screen tearing."

So the space bogeyman is back. And showing sheer awesomeness. :smile2:

This game is an ode to what's special, different, and unique, in these days of "light" games.

Alien Isolation is my type of game and a game that people have scored high -users' scores in Metacritic are really high-. That just says it all.

I want to play this game too. I'm waiting for the Oculus DK3 to be released to play it on PC, it can't get any better than that.

This game is intense as hell, whenever the big chap starts to enter the scene you just feel a strong sense of urgency and vulnerability. The score really helps too in creating such a atmosphere, I feel like playing in the real environment at times. If only flashlight is permanent tho, the battery life is so dire.

I have no real intention of playing this but probably pay money if they offered a DLC that would allow you just to walk around and explore. Btw the alien afaik is a she?

That would be weird coz the only female alien would be the queen (the Bitch), the rest should all be male drones. Would be very interesting tho if it's a she drone, we'll see if the story unfolds more:).
Arwin man up and play it, you're missing out on a good game

Love this game. The main character is boring and the narrative is meh, but the gameplay marks progression for the genre. And the Alien is scary for the first time since the 1980's, that's something to be happy about.

The alien has no gender, at least not comparable to mammals; they're closer to an insect hive, with a queen and various drones and workers and warriors and such. Their reproduction isn't presented in enough detail but it does not seem to require mixing genes from two parents with different sexes.

The look of the creature on the other hand is intentionally mixed, the slender torso and limbs are meant to add some feminine impressions. Then there are the phallic symbols and the rest... Giger had a disturbed imagination after all ;)

I'm tipping this is not a typical drone in a sense that it might be genetically enhanced by the company, there has to be some kind of link in conjecture with the story. Video game would be the perfect median to exploit the xenomorph species and branch further in its evolution. I hope to see something special from it.

Well the head is a giant... you know what, so it makes some sense. But then again it did make eggs (in the director's cut) ...

10 points for Nesh
