AGP Aperture

I'm not exactly clear on this setting. If you have 512MB or 1GB of system memory, what should it be set to?

I normaly set it to 64 megs . mabye 128 megs

i'm running 1 gig . I find it to work the best.

I set mine to 256 and then don't bother with it again. The memory isn't taken unless it's needed, so may as well raise the ceiling.

The other answer: it really doesn't matter.

Too small (ex: 32 for a 64Meg card) seems to slow my system down thou.... Equal or double the size the memory on the video card seems to do just fine.

Setting AGP to 64MB will severely limit texture-intensive applications, as the GPU can't DMA-fetch textures stored outside the aperture. The CPU would have to manually transfer them, which would cause lots of framerate loss.

One might just as well set the aperture to max and not bother with it anymore, it won't actually allocate all that memory unless it's needed by the game.
