Support the artists who make it, encourage more of the kind I like to be made. Given that increasingly anime companies are turning to making series specificly for outside the Japanese market then sales figures count more and more these days.

And the quality of the DVDs is far better than the XviDs. Sure there are a couple sites where you may find the untouched DVD9s but downloading everything you want while maintaining a good ratio so you won't be banned will take you a long time. And some of us just like the fuzzy feeling of actually having the actual product with its case and artwork.
