An interesting article titled "The Shocking State of 3D Affairs"

http://www.penstarsys.com/editor/tech/graphics/nv_ati_dx9/index.html

It basically says why NV3x flunked but portays NVidia as clever guys who took the brave steps needed to advanced the 3D industry before its time whereas ATi played it smart but have the very hard yards ahead of them.

I like the editors note "Editors note: I did as much study as I could to delve into the different architectures of the companies involved, but I should not be considered an expert. There could be some technical inaccuracies in this article, but it is the best information that I had at the time" Cutting Through the Smoke and Hype by Josh Walrath

I wonder how many folk will point out a few of the more glaring mistakes he made :)

Strange. I think it's R300 which is faster on 'leading edge' and DX9 applications.

I also think it's R300 that runs all the tests in Shadermark 2.0, because of support for all the DX9 features.

And therefore that it's R300 which is a more capable, forward looking part, rather than one built to run legacy games well while supporting checkbox DX9.

But of course, I would say that. There you go.
