3rd Party Wiimotes?

Anyone heard anything about this? It seems to me that Nintendo wants to keep an Apple-like stranglehold on console accessories, and thus the chances we'll see 3rd party, (ie cheaper), wiimotes seems slim. It would sure be nice, though. 60 bucks seems like a hell of a lot for a controller, especially one with as many party games coming to it as Nintendo seems to have.

Maybe that's the preferred option, with the alledged profile-saving stuff in the wiimote itself...
