Your mission if you so choose to accept it ... help me reset my 360's resolution so my LCD will accept the signal (Signal out of Range... 360 set to 720p... 1280x1024 native resolution LCD with no scaler...) So the rest ot the story:
I did a bad.
We recently moved cross country on short notice. During my unpacking this morning I realized I made a mistake:
* I left my 360 in 720p mode.
* My only display is an "older" 19" 1280x1024 PC LCD (no scaler).
* My LCD is giving me a, "Signal out of Range" error for obvious reasons.
Pretty bonehead of me as I had the 360 on a CRT (which I no longer have) and set to 720p output and used the CRTs vertical adjustments to squish the signal for a "correct" faux letterbox for the 16:9 aspect. This was a great solution ... until we moved and I departed with my CRT.
* I shake my fists at the MS folks who decided to support all forms of resolutions and aspects sans 16:9 on the ever popular 1280x1024 LCDs...
I have half a mind to walk ove to my neighbors in Redmond and tell them to fix it but I don't want to spend the holidays in a small 5x5 cell
I need some help resetting the resolution. I currently am leeching net access from a very poor hotspot so browsing is very limited (took a good 10 minutes to load a B3 page).
* I do NOT have the NXE installed.
* I am using a MS 360 VGA adapter.
* LCD is a Hyundai L90D+ 19" 1280x1024 LCD (Samsung 5ms Panel).
* The 360 was last used about 4 weeks ago.
* I do not have a CRT.
My next trip to the family could resolve this issue but I was hoping to have access to the 360 over the long weekend.
BONUS POINTS: The VGA cable has a RED MALE and WHITE MALE audio cable (RCA?). My PC speakers and PC headphones have a single MALE 3.5mm stereo cable. So am I looking either some sort of Y-cable that has 2 Female RCA stereo inputs and a single Female 3.5" on the other end or a Y adapter (RCA to 3.5mm) + a Female-Female 3.5mm adapter/cable?
I previously had an audio converter box... but that was scorched earth as well in the move. My LCD has an audio pass through and I have an RCA Y adapter but the 360 is offering no audio at this point (although my MP3 player with a 3.5mm cable works). It may just be that with the wrong signal it isn't offering any audio, it may not be the issue and the little Y adapter I have may not be right. :shurgs: I need more money to play around with A/V stuff more often
