2x-3x 360's to be Produced

Ghost may not have that X2 push anymore since it is available for Box and PS2 (I think PC as well). X2 need 'exclusives'. yes there are features and better graphics and what not. but it may not be easy to convince someone to buy an X2 for a game he can play in his current system. Oblivion is a good system supporting title. Ghost was good till the ports showed up.

other exclusives like The Outfit aren't helping with sales at all. they need good console exclusives to get good sales before Rev and PS3 hit stores in 7 months or so.

I dont think you can compare the experience of Ghost on 360 to other platforms.

Check out Gamespot's terrible review of the Xbox-1 version for more. I think it scored like a 5.4.

It's an example of why Next Gen always sets the agenda in gaming. The reason why Sony now must hurry the PS3 (just like they had to hurry the PS2 against Dreamcast).

So.. when can we expect to actually see these increases?

I was at my local Costco (San Jose, CA) last Saturday (3/25). I was actually surprised to see Xbox 360 bundles on display ($469 for premium + 1 extra wireless controller + 1 play & charge kit + PGR3). I think they had 10 or 12 of them, maybe.

Hong.

I am from SJ too, and I've seen them from time to time at Costco, which Costco were you at in SJ?

Same here in NJ. I told a friend and when he went back the following day they were gone.

the X2 version is better than the Box or PS2 version. I have been keeping an eye on the X2 version and I loved it. I was disappointed with my Box experience not being the same, but I still enjoyed it never the less.

but the problem here is the general consumer doesn't know the differences. take Splenter Cell games. they usually have diferent modes between the PS2 and ox versions, but normally, people don't know that. only the very few that keep track of these things do.
I was going to buy an X2 just for Ghost, but changed my mind when I saw it for Box. even though it wasn't as good, I felt paying for a new game was easier than buying a whole new system + a game for bump in quality of the same game.

point is, MS needs to show good 'exclusives' for X2 that gamers can't find on any other console. things like Oblivion, Two Worlds, and others are great examples.

well, at least Ghost came out before the current versions. I think EA did bad by bringing Burnout so late on X2. may be it is better late than never, but most gamers have already played it on their current systems by then.

Lookign at the sales rankings, it's pretty obvious that consumers do realize the difference. 360 version of GR is outselling the XBOX version by a big margin, despite XBOX having 10 times the userbase.

I don't really think that's a very strong point. Hype and word of mouth goes a long way in selling games, and creating system sellers, games like FN3 and GR for 360 will have tons of hype and word of mouth that the XBOX versions just won't get, they'll fade away quickly while the 360 versions continue to sell systems.

ah, good point. next gen games do get all the hype. I didn't even know there was current gen versions of Ghost till I saw a Box version in a store. and of course, EA is spreading FN3 for everything under the sun. I was surprised to see even PSP had one. lol

How did this thread get turned into yet another discussion about exclusives and how important (or not) they are to the X360?

This thread is about availablity of the X360. And until the X360 are sitting on shelves going unsold, I think it's a rather large waste of time to ponder the impact that highly sought after exclusives would have on its sales figures.

Bottom line: Argue exclusives all you want, but even with the lack of exclusives that currently exist, the X360 is nowhere to be found.

..except, apparently, Costco (according to anecdoctal evidence in this thread) and even then, only for a very brief period of time.

Just to update.. I've actually made my first spotting of the X360 in the wild! No, it's actually true.

One of the local Target stores actually had three core systems and three premium systems available for purchase just sitting on the shelves..

Just sitting there! Doing nothing! Like they were actually a product like any other that you could trade currency for instead of some mythical often talked about but seldom encountered enigma. Remarkable.

Heh, at this rate it shouldn't be more than a few months before you can actually order one online from EB and not be roped into a bundle.

There was an interview recently which I don't remember fully but it was an MS exec saying that the yield issues on a particular part were causing a bottleneck for the production of XBOX360... and it had just been resolved.

I believe from linking to other news stories and speculating somewhat that it was Xenon that was the problem...

the XENON war-machine shifts into high-gear, it seems. MS must entrench itself against PS3 much better than Sega did with Dreamcast before PS2 arrived like a nuclear blast, from which DC was not hardened against.

Well, there's certainly not much value in coming to market first if you don't come to market with any decent level of supply.

Essentially all you are doing is selling consoles to people who would have bought them anyway.

they may not have been able to keep up with demand, but I think they did ok if you think about all the consoles they have out across all regions

I don't know how that compares to other system launches after 6 months, but I doubt the PS3 will do much better and they will probably seems in even shorter supply since the demand should be higher
