2x-3x 360's to be Produced

I find it funny that people still think MS is stockpiling systems.

Are you not aware that in just the past month MS launched the 360 in South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, and will launch in Mexico and Australia within weeks? Yeah, I guess MS has been stockpiling systems, but not for the US market.

For a grand total of <100k units...

Stockpiling when people are starving! Someone explain that to me?

Surely the biggest game listed is Street Fighter II! (and on some levels I'm not really joking!)

The next time Dave is in the Bay Area, someone from ATI or nVidia needs to take him to the Pink Poodle!

T's which is down the the same street is much better and they serve beer.

I don't rember T's, but it's been quite a few years since I've lived in the Bay Area so I may have forgotten.

I'm sure MS was sacrificing interest and appearance for a relaunch. That makes buttloads of sense.
How else do they deliver such large shipments to multiple retailers within the span of 1 or 2 days?

As far as sacrificing interest, it's more about giving consumers a set date that they can expect to see a 360 in stores. Futureshop is giving gauranteed pre-orders for the 23rd, as is EB games for the 24th, as is Gamestop. It just happens to coincide exactly with Moores announcement of of 2-3times the 360's available.

Anyways, I'd like to hear your theory as to why there has been almost no restocking at major stores for the entire month of march, and it's all suddenly coming to an end, simultaneously at multiple retailers, at the end of this week.

Did you hear Moore's interviews? They're getting more volume because they're finally getting 360's delivered by boat. Previously, it has all been by plane. The latency with that is good, but the bandwidth sucks. I don't know why it has taken until now, but it has.

 nice analogy

yes the "big boatload" scenario was my guess as well.

Plausible...plausible...but I like my theory better! :p

p.s. they released logistic details a couple weeks back for the 360, and I'm almost positive there were many shipments by boat previously.

I'm going by the two interviews Gamespot had with Moore yesterday. I just assumed he was speaking accurately.

So.. when can we expect to actually see these increases?

After reading this thread, I thought I'd be able to walk into Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Sears, whatever and pick on up over the weekend.

I actually hit all those stores (I'm an unlucky SOB), this weekend.. not looking for a 360, but for other reasons, and there wasn't a single unit to be found of any flavor.

Now I'm hearing talk of some "April Promotion". Are these shipments being held NOW in order to have supply in stock for some sort of planned marketing campaign? That seems rather dumb to me.. if people will buy them now, sell them now. The sooner the better.

Anyway, regardless of their updated "production figures" I still haven't seen the boxes on the shelves yet. Maybe they're in the pipeline someplace, but still not available to purchase.

..not for me, anyway.

I think MS times it perfectly with Ghost Recon and Oblivion.

Those games are so popular I think they might single handedly keep it sold out a good while longer.

It is no longer "new factor" that is selling 360's.

Ghost may not have that X2 push anymore since it is available for Box and PS2 (I think PC as well). X2 need 'exclusives'. yes there are features and better graphics and what not. but it may not be easy to convince someone to buy an X2 for a game he can play in his current system. Oblivion is a good system supporting title. Ghost was good till the ports showed up.

other exclusives like The Outfit aren't helping with sales at all. they need good console exclusives to get good sales before Rev and PS3 hit stores in 7 months or so.
