1200 Fps

Does anybody know of a Utility that lets me record an AVI output of whats being rendered in a 3D game?

In such a way as I can render a pre-set sequence at a solid 30 FPS - at full, half, quarter, 1/20th the speed and sum all the frames together to end up with a bunch of AVI files all at 30FPs, but source FPS's varying from 30 to 1200 FPS.....

Also, wouldn't it be nice if my G80 driver had the facility to render, when vsynced to 60 hz, at 120hz - summing every pair of frames to produce 60FPS...

it does hit your cpu pretty hard so i dont think it would let you record at 1200fps even if it would let you (have you any idea how much hdd space a movie shot at 1200fps would take up)
Quick guess : avi file 640x480 at 1200fps would take up 1gb a second you can compress it afterwards but not during, infact do you have a hard drive capable of 1gb /sec transfer rate ?
 
I don't know about the 1200 fps bit, but you should be able to record it at any particular fps-setting for the AVI file and just fake the running framerate by setting a fixed global timestep (assuming that this is a game to which you have the code, that is). Then when you go at the file after it's been saved off, you can use a tool like virtualdub to re-interpret the framerate of the file as the speed you actually want before re-compressing. The files that fraps creates are not very small in general, so your disk will be thrashing the whole time so if your disk can't keep up, the game will run very, very slow. You'll just have to live with that.

Any particular reason for teh 1200 FPS requirement?

I think he's just trying to record some super high FPS porn, personally...
 
I think it might have something to do with a stereoscopic display that uses pageflipping. 1200 is probably a typo where he meant 120.

Be good if he posted back though to confirm.
