Hooray!!

Nintendo Co. this week revealed that it will offer game titles from SNK's Neo Geo and the MSX home computer to the Wii Virtual Console in 2007.

The vintage game offerings add two more game systems to the Virtual Console lineup, which include the NES, Super NES, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, TurboGrafx-16.

The Neo Geo dominated the 1990's arcade scene with classic game titles like NAM 1975, Samurai Shodown, and Fatal Fury. The Virtual Console offerings will mark the first time its classic arcade titles will be available on a next-generation console.

Outstanding. There's actually some really great Neo games that get forgotten under all the fighters.

But the Fighters are truly amazing. I was just playing some Sam Show 2 a week ago and it's intense!

I used to desperately want to play Neo Geo back in the day. :D

It'd be pretty cool if Sega, Hudson, SNK, and whoever else has their games on the console, would re-release the original controllers, but with a gamecube port connector or Wii wireless connection. That way we could truly play the virtual console games the way in which they were meant to be played. Like what nintendo did with the Classic Controller peripheral.

The first 3 Neo Geo games are coming in September for 900 Wii points each ($9). http://wii.ign.com/articles/817/817146p1.html

Fatal Fury
World Heroes
Magician Lord

Not too shabby considering these games easily cost several hundred dollars when they first came out. :)

The Wii really needs a Hard Drive these days. Between all of the downloadable VC content and the potentially downloadable content for games like Guitar Hero III, that 512MB onboard flash should be just about running out.

World Heroes? Ugh...

Couldn't we at least start out with Art of Fighting instead of their lame Street Fighter rip-off? :p

Samurai Shodown without an arcade stick? No way. It's like the abomination of playing Street Fighter 2 on a gamepad.

Buy a Hori stick then.

Ooh, all the old Konami classics. Metal Gear of course, but I hope they also bring SD Snatcher over. That game was awesome. And Nemesis / Space Manbow. Side-scrolling shooters ftw.
