What are you playing now? [2025]

It can, at 20fps on the first half of the game.

Running 2 of them in SLI (which I have, but I don't have an SLI bridge) provides a very playable experience on max settings and 30+FPS at all times.

Well, I finished Metal Gear Solid for the PSX. Well, as played through Duckstation. Got absolutely sold on it. Anyone have a suggestion for a superb PSX game for me to play next? I'm thinking of the original Silent Hill.

I couldn´t stand the controls of the original silent hill. SSX and sly cooper 2 are excellent ps2 games IMO.

Between Avowed and Lotro, I've been trying out xCloud on my Android phone with touch controls - Vampire Survivor (a little too laggy for sudden turns) and Persona 3 Reload (which is probably the ideal game for xCloud).

Some time ago I completed Silet Hill 2 Remake and Stellar Blade. Both games are very good. But in terms of graphics they look like with some minor changes they coud've bee released for PS4. Don't get me wrong, both games look very good, but I cant say this is PS5 level of graphics. (Yes, I played them on PS5 in 30 fps mode). Before I completed Alan Wake 2 also on PS5. In AW 2 grpahics is true next gen. I even looked at screenshots I made on PS5 in Quarry. Characters and enviroment looks better in that game than in SH 2. And that is PS4 game, ok I played that on PS5 but I watched comparison between PS4 and PS5 versions, and they look almost the same. So I really don't understand why those games weren't released for PS4.
Another moment, I remember some people disagreed with me before and will disagree now, but I still think what for now top 3 games with graphics on consoles are
Indiana Jones, Stalker 2 and Hellblade 2. Last time I said that I haven't played AW 2 yet, but now, after I finished it I still think the same. Main difference is what there is a less geometry detailes in AW 2 comparing to 3 other games. Could that be because PS5 don't have mesh shaders? What difference do you think will be in PS5 version of Indiana Jones?

Well, turns out I didn't start Silent Hill immediately. Got a hankering for an older game I never finished due to a bug. Mirrors Edge. First-person parkour. It works decently well! But not seeing your feet leads to a lot of falls... Wonderful game though. Even if I absolutely suck at it. It took four (and a bit) hours to finish. And I don't know how much of that time was me re-doing the same jump or fight over and over for minutes at a time. Still, it nails its atmosphere. It's a world I want to walk around in, take in the sights, jump about, listen to the soundtrack. In a sane scale of 1 to 10 where 5 is absolutely playable but meh, and 10 is the second coming of Christ, I'd give it a 6 or 7.

Started replaying AC Odyssey. I played some years ago on PS4. I really wanted to like it but I never really did. I think I wanted it to be more like Origins when it came to tone, artstyle and gameplay. It looked like it had some gamma issue when I played it back then, everything seemed washed out.

Anyway, I decided to give it another try now that I know more what I was getting into. I think my experience now is pretty close to when I played it the first time. I liked the opening, but for some reason it seemed less fun after you get your ship. I like the naval combat, and I like the idea of having this huge world with lots of adventures the experience. I think my main issue is that there´s just too much of everything, and they went with quantity over quality. Looting a chest in a tomb isnt very fun when that tomb is so poorly crafted you cant tell it apart from other tombs. It does get more fun if you do it 100 times, quite the opposite.

My experience with Odyssey is the same like the first time. It started with "this seems quite fun and has potential" to me actively disliking the game. There are many little things in the design that takes the fun out of it and makes it a frustrating chore. The fact that there are so many camps, forts, caves etc means that non of them are well design or had had much effort put into them.

I always wonder how Ubisoft came to the conclusion that littering the map with a ton of brainless collectibles and repetitive activities is additive to the experience. It’s been a thing since the first AC games. The only reasonable explanation is that they wanted to encourage people to explore every corner of the map that the artists worked so painstakingly on. Or maybe it’s just filler to pad out play time end justify higher prices. I can’t imagine people are paying extra because they love running around collecting pointless shit though.

Maybe they figure they can claim the game has hundreds of gameplay hours. Many people seem to love Odyssey though :/

There were tombs in Origins, but there werent that many, and they were all beautifully handcrafted, unique and a joy to explore.

Easier to copy paste the same tomb 100 times than craft 10 unique ones.

I’m almost done with Unity and just learned there are some artifact collectibles that spawn randomly in “helix rift” missions and the only way to get them all is to run the same rifts over and over and check all the spawn locations every time. It’s asinine. Who thought that would be fun or rewarding? Will need a long detox from the Ubi formula after this but I will inevitably come back because the early game is still fun for me. Syndicate next.

We're playing Atom Fall and it's hitting the spot. Lovely graphics, decent gameplay, and story. So far, no complaints from me or the wife!

I'm back into Persona 3 Reload finally. I put Avowed aside (which I'm enjoying), because I'm convinced Persona 3's days on GP are numbered. I'm playing it 50/50 Series X and xCloud on my phone with touch controls.

One thing that struck me when playing Odyssey is how long time everything takes. You cant fast travel to cities you´ve visited, you have to climb to those vantage points. There´s a place in the game you can upgrade your stuff from time to time, you can fast travel there, but you still have to walk pretty far to get to the upgrade point. Quest givers are often far from fast travel spots, and the quests start too far from the quest givers etc. Fighting enemies is boring because you´re slowly chipping away at their health .Everything seems designed to steal your time, which is probably true because they try to sell you xp packs, which is totaly ridicolous.

The trick with Ubi games, is to always skip one to get the next.
I haven't played Origins, and I loved Odyssey.
I skipped Valhalla and I'm really enjoying Shadows.
Same with Far Cry.
