Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 (Steam)

Game is a great follow up to Heroes of Hammerwatch. It's a roguelite again, but it has equipment that carries over. So you get the standard rpg equipment slots, but otherwise the game works very similarly. Good boss designs. I think I might like the first one better, but so far I'm enjoying.

I'm also really happy I bought I 9800x3D for this. These SNES looking graphics really hammer your system. Better buy an RTX5090.

I played hammerwatch which was more like gauntlet I guess, if I didn't play the first heroes is there any point playing that first or should I just go straight for the 2nd one?

You can go straight to the second. Both games are good so I’d say the first is still worth playing.

Nope. The controls are wasd to move, mouse to aim. You pick a class, and each class earns levels and persistent upgrades. There are loot drops in Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 to equip your character that are persistent. Then you have character modifiers and trinkets that you pick up that improve your stats and change how your characters skills/spells work, but those you lose if you die during a run. There are basically five acts with bosses that you have to beat to "win". If you die you start over (without losing levels, equipment). There's a mechanic for skipping acts to shorten the time for your runs.
