Sony PlayStation VR2 (PSVR2)

I'M FUCKED.

Ordered psvr2 as it got discounted to around 450USD, and when it arrived...

The lens is already Scratched..... It seems the usb c of the headset hits the lens as the scratch mark is veery similar to USB c and the white cover thingy is also having a pressure mark.

Contacted the shop for return and they say they have accepted my support request and told me to regular ask them the status...

I Want to contact Sony in my region... Googled... They only have phone, no email... Phone = very expensive minutes...

Then I remember Sony in my region is basically the poster child of customer hostile...

And now I wonder why the fuck do I still buy Sony stuff.

weird, are you sure it was brand new ? the cable should not hit the lenses in the package, and if i remember correctly there were protection film on the lenses.

No protective film, and the cable was not covered by USB c plastic hat thing that psvr1 have for its cables.

Even the official unboxing video from Sony shows the same.

Be sure to thoroughly test the controllers too. Mine were defective but I was able to get them working with the trigger flick trick and they seem good now. Try Horizon if you can because I would get locked right at the beginning screens because it wouldn't respond to button presses.

In the future you should try to buy everything from a store that you know has a no bullshit return policy. I try to get things locally so it's as easy as possible. PSVR2 is sketchy, with the controller quality problems from launch still being present in inventory. It is a nice headset when you get it working though.

It's the only shop that's still have psvr2 on stock, everywhere else out of stock since November.

In retrospect, I should have skipped it and buy next year, maybe even a revised version...

By the way, let me add that this game is annoying. The situation of entering a base infested with aliens is of course one that would grow tiresome. They apparently didn't like how Alien Isolation gradually ramped that up. Instead, at the 15 minute mark, they engage the respawn timer and it runs for the rest of the game providing you with 2-3 aliens at 1-2 minute intervals.

There's no reason to use the tracker. Once it chirps you know they're coming within seconds. Messing with the tracker will probably get you dead.

You can try to hide, but it has to be a dark obscured area and who wants to deal with that every 1-2 minutes either.

I don't know how they could have thought the way it works is fun and great. I've been thinking maybe it has to do with the "rogue" in the name, like it's some kind of lame game design that is cool to fans of roguelikes.

one interview i saw a few weeks/months ago was talking about a rogue like game, and that disappointed me.
I hope the latest rumors of an official VR version of isolation coming in 2025 are true.

Yeah rogue likes are usually about map/enemy randomization and resetting your character and whatnot. It doesn't do that.

so... the shop i bought the PSVR2 from refused to swap the unit, and sony customer care is still in discussion with higher ups.

the photos of the defect:
the upside is that, thanks to the super small sweet spot and godly amounts of god rays... i am currently unable to notice whether the defect affects anything. Oh and the VR controllers are working properly, and the OLED panel does indeed have worse mura than PSVR1 (and for some reason, the headset is LESS COMFORTABLE than PSVR1, dunno why).

im starting to just think to take the loss... and start using it to play games, especially GT7 VR.

In the UK (and EU) the shop can't refuse it. For the first 6 months after purchase, any failings or faults are assumed on the part of the supplier than the consumer - the onus of proof is on them to show you did something wrong. Ergo, it's their fault and it's your consumer rights to get it remedied.

Seems odd that some some parts of the world are still so medieval in their views of business.
