PS5 Pro *spawn

the wifi is more powerful in the pro for sure.
My gaming room is upstairs and i had often a loss of wifi signal while playing online, it still has not happened yet with the pro, my max speed was around 50mbps with the PS5, now it's around 190mbps.
The PS5 Pro is Wifi 7 right? A while back I did a full upgrade of my home network to Wifi 6 and it was so worth it. My previous wifi network would get about 260mbps (on desktop) from speedtest.net, and here's my new one..

(don't mind the crappy upload.. Canadian internet plans smh lol)

I'm quite happy with it, as all my devices, such as desktops, phones, laptops, and consoles get very good and strong wifi signals. Everything is fully wifi now with no ethernet cables in my home.

Depressing. I just have no faith in the general populace at all anymore.
It's just launch numbers. PSVR2 was also slightly outperforming the original PSVR when it launched, but we all know how that turned out.

I expect things will drop off at some point, but it will be interesting to see what the GTA6 launch does for the PS5 Pro.. as it will undoubtedly be the best place to play that game when it launches.

Yes, I am interested in which chip ie brand and modell. :)
Well actually I am curious if it does Multi-Link Operation (MLO): STR (Simultaneous Transmit and Receive).
I saw your question there and tried to search for some insight into it, but didn't find anything. Surely some teardown channel will have the information soon enough. If I see anything I will post it here for sure.

Why ? Its solid hw and more important (below 1080p on base ps5 in era of big 4k tv) than ps4pro was
Sony could have released a box with nothing but fart gas in it for $80 and you'd find a way to praise it.

The price is insane for what it offers over four years after the base consoles released. And I will never, ever accept people like you trying to normalize it, even though y'all will likely win in the end because consumers(and people in general) are stupid and will never understand when companies are laughing at them when they go, "Let's see what we can get away with, I really think our consumers are morons who have no concept of value whatsoever" and turn out correct in the end.

insulting people with a different point of view than yours is not a good manner to discuss tech and games on this forum though.

snc is a known fanboy here. I dont know why we have to dance around these obvious observations. It's supposedly for the sake of civility, but all it actually accomplishes is allowing them to spew their propagandistic narratives freely in an environment that we are barely able to challenge because we cant call them out for what they really are.

PS5 Pro for $700(or $800 with a disc drive) should be unquestionably rejected by any reasonable person. I dont think people understand the future consequences if people accept this. Though I'm getting the impression very, very few people are able to grasp the notion of 'consequences' for anything at all these days.

For some people the PS5 Pro may provide value as a console and the ecosystem they're invested it. Maybe they appreciate the better image quality and 60 fps. For those that prefer 30 fps to maximize visual quality it may not provide the value.

PS4 Pro was $400.

PS4 Pro was $400.
Yes it was. And PS5 launched at $500 and Sony sat there and watched it get scooped up by scalpers selling it for a higher premium. So maybe they decide to have a higher price for their halo machine and make good margins on it from the get go. Maybe the data they have suggests that the market will bear a higher price for PS5 Pro. Maybe it'll backfire and the thing won't end up selling well over the course of the rest of the gen. Maybe it'll languish until GTA6 launches and interest sparks up again.

But again these higher prices were expected for Pro models even if some fat margins are baked into the price.

His opinion is fine here. You can’t just attack people because he has a preference or has brand loyalty.
If he starts saying ridiculous things, sure, we will look at that. But as far as I can see, he’s right.

You can’t blame him for spending money on what he values.

If we assume that the PS5 DE breaks even and the added cost of the Pro is very conservatively ~$100, then the Pro still has low margins for a consumer product. Essentially all Sony are doing is encroaching into PC territory by providing a comparatively higher priced option at relatively worse value. I don't think that automatically means that the "break even" model of selling a base unit at the lowest price possible to the most people, goes away.

And telling people how they should be spending their money to "optimise" uncertain future outcomes veers into paternalism for me.

People spend way north a 1000 bucks on a phone these days. Hundreds of dollars for mid-range GPU's that are over two years old. 700 or 800usd and a 1000 euro is alot for a console though, however it is intended as a premium product so the price does make some sense. There is the base model if you don't like to spend that much. This either doesn't mean the PS6 will be this expensive.

Guess there's alot of noise on the internet because of the relatively small boost in performance compared to what the 4 Pro did, it had a +200% gpu increase with checkerboarding upscaling which at the time wasn't that bad. The 4 Pro also had a more hefty increase on the cpu side, launched three years after the initial base PS4 and wasn't this expensive and came with the (4k) disc drive. It also aimed for 4k TV's vs the base's 1080p, 4k TV's had a pretty wide adoption back then.
Then again this is for the general electronics market, gpu prices to start. We tend to see less value for the money and i think it's something Microsoft has touched on awhile ago.

I didnt buy ps4pro beacuse of this, you had to buy 4k tv to see real difference, most people back then were still on 1080p

This is not a thread to discuss economics nor to judge consumer purchasing decisions. It's a technical look at PS5 Pro, with perhaps a little cursory value consideration.

Discussion on PS5 Pro's price and its market impact belongs in the Games Industry forum.

Discussion on consumer behaviour, capitalist economies, and whether it's right or wrong to support businesses charging top dollar for questionable value, particularly if your point is general despair at the state of society, is clearly for the RPSC forum and not the Gaming Technology forum.
