Yeay for Nintendo

Nintendo expected to ship 6 million DS players by the end of March, Reginald Fils-Aime, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Nintendo of America Inc., said in an interview last month. The device went on sale in the U.S. in November.

This for usa only ? if so thats alot of ds players

Worldwide numbers actually jvd, beating their projected fiscal year total by 1 million units.

thats still alot of ds's ... but damn if that was just hte usa .... i'd say game over for sony . But it isn't which means a price war should start up

The PSP is selling well in its own right. The NDS had the advantage of a holiday season in the US. And it also appears that the NDS and PSP appeal to slightly different gamers. And of course price is a big factor. It is very hard to sell as many $250 consoles as $150.

But it looks like the PSP has the better games right now and is technologically superior, so while the NDS may be able to do well in the short term I would not count Sony and the PSP out yet. As more quality games appear, the price drops some, and Sony gets E3 hype and a US holiday under their belt I think we will book looking at a pretty level playing field. Even if the PSP had 6M units in the US.

you didn't bother to read what i wrote huh , u just saw me say game over for sony and you had to jump in and defend

What, am I now supposed to respond, "No, you obviously did not read what I said"??? To put it more gently (and on topic) I said even IF the 6M NDS sales were US only your "game over" comment was wrong in my opinion.

Even if the PSP had 6M units in the US.

I also gave reasons to backup my statement.

If you want to see defensive look in the mirror jvd. Anyone on the boards can tell you my favorite publisher/developer is Nintendo. Just because I do not flock to their defense EVERY TIME or see the potential in other products does not mean I am some anti-Nintendo fanboi.

Why is it when someone responds to a comment they believe is wrong they have to drop to the level of saying, "You did not even read what I wrote?" and get all defensive? Obviously you missed the part where I was responding to your 6M US sales. See I could now say "Did you even bother to read my post or are you just a flaming fanboi who did not like hearing another opinion to contradict your what if?" See how that goes? That is not discussion. As a board mod you should try to make sure the board is orderly and respectful, not contributing to such behavior. Something to think about jvd.

because its obvious that you didn't .

If nintendo had shipped 6 million in the usa alone it would have been game over for sony , that is a huge amount of systems to ship in 5 months

But you see , since i was wrong about the number and admited it there was no need to responed at all to my post as my whole post was based on if it was indeed 6 million in the usa alone , since it wasn't ... that is the end of it

If they only projected 1 million, how did they ever meet a demand 6 times that amount?

HAHAHAHA. Yeah right.

Your comment was after the correction. You made a retorical statement that:

IF Nintendo shipped 6M in the US
THEN it would be game over for Sony

I clearly read what you wrote--I just disagree. I gave reasons why I disagree with your logic. And your grand response was:

"you didn't bother to read what i wrote huh , u just saw me say game over for sony and you had to jump in and defend"

The only obvious thing I see, as in all your threads, is you trolling of anyone who disagrees with you and your clear ATI/Nintendo bias. In my case, I disagreed and your response was

1. I did not read your post (not true), and
2. I was "jumping" to defend Sony--which I have shown to objective posters I am not a Sony fanboi (like I said, my fav publisher is Nintendo)

Well, at least you gave me a good laugh for the evening.

Dude, he didn't have a paper on the ethical considerations of sodomism, where you might have read between the lines, and your view over his entire research paper might be different.

He wrote two lines, and if you are going to have a debate over two lines, its time to move on.

On the other hand, in compraison to the GBA, how many units of each our out in the world?

He said they beat their fiscal year projections by 1 million, not of 1 million. They estimated 5 million shipped and shipped 6 million instead.

If I recall correctly, they initially intended to ship 'only' 4 million. Then they scaled up their projections to 5 million and further up to 6 million.
