Watching g4tv Morgen web from x play is testing how much damage they can take

She droped a 20 pound weight on each of the systems

gamecube still worked , ps2 didn't , xbox still works

Now she is hitting it with a hammer

game cube works , xbox works

Now she is droping it from a high ledge.

Xbox lost its face plate and can't turn on

Gamecube barely closes but it works

I really enjoyed that little show , she really kicked those consoles butts . Ps2 had things fly out of it every which way at one point .

The gamecube lost all the ports under it from the weight droping on it

So much unnecessary effort. Well, at least for X-Box ... just pop in a game, let the running demo do it's work and the system will cord-burn itself (including you and your house) .... YAY :devilish:

I wonder if G4TechTV will ever come to the U.K. Seems like quite an interesting channel.

I dunno its changed many times , it used to be tech tv . Half thier programs suck though. I normaly put it on when i can't sleep and watch

Hahah! I remember back in 2000 when DailyRadar took a Jap spec PS2 before it came to the US, hit it with a bat, threw it out a window, and ran over it with a Jeep... Man, come to think of it the hardware does feel kind of cheap...

X-Play is the only good show. Actually, Icons is okay too. They sort of do video game history stuff. There was one about the Zelda series, for instance.

TechTV was better before Comcast bought and merged them with G4. They ruined/cancelled a bunch of TechTV shows and fired a bunch of people. Extended Play (X-Play's older, less stupid name) is the only show that survived the transition intact (IMO).

You could always move to the US. Chicks dig accents. :p

Anyway, the console torture segment was hilarious.

I can't really see the point of doing this... Still, I wonder if console manufacturers test their console's durability with similar tests.

there really is no point in it . Though its nice to see that if shit happens so to say the gamecube would mostl ikely have the best chance at being usable again.

In my house if i drop my gamecube it could fall down 2 flights of stairs . So its good to know it would most likely live through it (and it did when my cousin dropped it before we left for great adventure one day

If you care for your console you better not try to drop it on purpose, jvd.
This "test" is completly useless from a statistical point of view, all we know is the result for 1 GC, 1 PS2 and 1 Xbox. A substantial/interesting test would use, at least, 10 GC, 10 PS2, 10 Xbox and apply the different tests mechanically (In order to reproduce always the same action), and then do the math to obtain an average per consoles and per test... [/nerd rant]

... Well, it's not really scientifically correct, but I must admit at least that it was funny to see.

BTW, here's the video for those interested.

Yeah, I've had the video of that for quite some time. Pretty funny

If I remember correctly, on the show after tha main video part she says that they did the test twice, and the results were the same.

They really should have done all the tests on all the consoles, rather then using a knockout system :) Although I doubt the results would have changed much (if they really did do those tests twice with the same results), the GC is simply the sturdiest console this generation.

there was a video of someone who did a more distructive test on the NCG....he dragged it behind a car and after they were done abusing it, it still worked and loaded up SMS.

Still have it?

Next what? Cook your PS2/GC/XB in boiling water, add some vegetable and spices....and then eat it. Which one tastes best? :p

The actual test was interesting and pretty incredible that GC survived it IMO. Unfortunately the rest of the video was pathetic

I was hoping they would try it again after hitting it with the sledge and having the disc lense assembly fly off. I think it would have at least booted the BIOS...
