Setting the console up; plugging it in, turned on and booted up into the Dashboard. Lucky people. It looks slick to me. --thanks Bayonetta for the link.

Ahh that power brick, so annoying. Dashboard sure looks like metro, should be pretty cool with live tiles.

At least it looks to me smaller and lighter, like the newer 360 ones.

It was interesting the 360 bricks got smaller and lighter with each revision. The first was a heavy monster. Some of the later ones are so light they almost feel cheap.

If this console is like 130 watts you'd think they could do away with it.

I really dont mind too much. My entertainment center is a messy bundle of cords is a bigger problem than a power brick!

I spent 15 minutes one day fixing the wires in my entertainment center. It looks really nice and the few external power bricks I have, are now hanging from the back. So they are blocked from site by the unit but have their own air flow away from the other hardware

Xbox 360 and Xbox One power bricks looks so awful and ugly... sigh... but, in their defence, I think it is better that way despite the demonic aesthetic look of them.

On a different note, Microsoft say that Xbox One lets you play your games the way you want, however you play them. Online. Offline. Digital. Disc.

A leak of the dashboard
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-09-09-xbox-one-dashboard-demoed-in-video-leak

It's pretty ghastly IMO, basically Windows 8 with chunky green squares for each element. Not pretty, and a waste of a space compared to more compact interfaces. It's an odd direction for UIs, I guess popularised by iOS just having a stupidly long list of everything on your device isn't of sanely compartmentalising it like computer interfaces of old.

Well thank goodness new Kinect isn't limited to on screen voice prompts. Maybe the dash is like that to accomodate gestures?

Maybe it's not like that . 360 dash has had many makeovers.

It's Windows 8. I guess it's touch and motion friendly, but there are ways to make something user friendly and pretty! Also how will skins/themes work? They are an easy income and prove popular.

Don't understand how anybody are surprised at the Windows 8/Metro look with the leak. We've seen bits & pieces of it since the unveil & it's almost the same as the 360 dash. Even better than the 360 dash since it's way more customizable & you don't have to go to another folder to access your pins. They're now up front & center.

I hope they switch the colour (or let us change it from green) and add more animated tiles. I believe I see an email icon in there.

I don't mind the metro interface. They should let us pin our favourites and organize the layout how we want. Hopefully I can keep my favourites organized.

Windws 8 / Windows Phone is driven by Touch and Gesture. As someone that uses Win Phone since 7 was launched I find the look to be very refreshing, configurable and easy to use. On both Phone and Win 8 the tile primary colours are cofigurable through settings, but these are "live tiles" so dependant on the application/tile you will get push updates, in some cases which will be entirely covered by an image - if this is representive of the XBOX One design live tiles may just not be active yet.

Win 8.1 also updates the theme abilities as well, allowing more flexability of the backdrops of the live tile screen to include any image that you may have for your desktop.

The tiles are OK I just hope they can keep it clean and tidy .as the Xbox 360 interface evolved its got to messy in my opinion .
Click this tile open up that blade sometimes three or four steps or even more are needed to do something .

Just give us a tile for each action that has one more push or command to get a action done .
Two steps not three or fours steps or more and I'll be happy .
Easy of use is more important that how it looks in my opinion .

Hopefully they will do a nice look video on YouTube showing the full dash in action doing different functions ' like voice chat ...skype calling ....adding a removing friends .....apps loading and working .
A dash board has become a important part of a game console Microsoft start it all with the Xbox 360 hopefully they have learned a thing or two from user feed back .

The controllers a improvement so hopefully the dash is as well .:)

I suppose that's true. The tiles are supposed to have content more than be buttons, which explains their size. It's not a style of UI I personally like - too much clutter for my tastes. I'm one of those who runs most applications on PC full screen.

I've readed some impressions from a presentation in Spain.

- Xbox One is huge (PS4 is bigger than it looks)
- The Xbox One materials quality are great (console, controller and Kinect).
- Noise? what is it?
- Controller feels good but triggers feels weird.
- Dashboard = light speed (I guess it is dev kit dashboard)
- Ryse: it was the multiplayer demo, the swamp level looks worse than the another one level. There are some next gen things, like the fire or particle effects. Not QTEs.
- Forza 5: Amazing, next gen at 100%.
- Dead Rising 3: Looks very nice, but the framerate is really bad. But the zombie counter in screen is insane, an explosion launch more than 500 bodies to air.
- Killer Instinct: Better than videos, really nice.
- NBA 2k14 (rfom a video I guess): in some moments it look "life-like".

Wow, nice, thanks a lot

Regarding DR3

I wonder if their build is prior to the upclocks and firmware updates, i say this because i think penello himself quoted DR3 as an example of framerates improvements after the updates

I guess it was the E3 demo (I'll ask).
