I thought this article was both interesting and controversial.

There's nothing wrong with comparisons if they are done correctly. There's nothing wrong with comparison threads if we can keep the talk civilized and those with red squares under their name out of the discussion.
This is probably the first time we have seen a direct comparison between console games on two platforms. First I have noticed that those against this sort of thing tend to be those that either favor one console or the other. if you're worried about your fav console looking unfavorably then this isn't the place for you. If you can post in a civilized manner and discuss what is seen without dragging this into the wrong direction, then this thread will stay open.

Anyway my opinion is that most of the videos tend to look better on the 360 side, due to the appearance of warmer colors, but on a couple of games you really notice the shadowing standing out more. I'm at least glad the media is calling out the manufacturers on these marketing talk thrown around (PS3 & 360 included). I like to see tough interviews and articles that come right out and say, "what's the difference". Many people on the net were expecting PS3 games to look head and shoulders better than 360 for some reason ( mostly Sony PR) however quite a lot of people knew that the difference between the visuals seen for multi-platform games would be a wash. I think it's just a fact that more CPU power doesn't always translate directly into graphical superiority.
Over the net, there's lots of people bringing up points like, "you can't compare first gen to 2nd gen games" however I don't' see that as valid when you are comparing the same game on both platforms. There's lots of other comments I won't bother to touch on, but IMO the "wait three years and PS3 games will probably outshine xbox 360 games" will likely not pan out for three reasons.
1. Developers making multi platform games will use the same art resources on both systems.
2. These systems are more even in power then the previous generation.
3. A lot of the visuals will depend on art team and technical art pipeline issues. For companies that are good at making a smooth art to engine pipeline, this will not be a problem and they will excel at making visually stunning games (Epic has a great art to engine pipeline).
