Uhm.... You do know Dave, right? Founder of this site and all.... Under the "post what the heck he wants and if you don't like it, you're out" category... :devilish:

So what do the videos show?

And is video a good judge?

And is it a bit premature to try to pass judgement?

You guys obviously don't know who Dave is.

After looking at the video I don't see much difference. I like the look of Madden on the XBOX but I can't say that it look better just that I found it more pleasing. As for NBA 2K7 they look identical to me I couldn't tell the difference between one and the other. I couldn't find any video that one system really look better than the other.

There's something similar going on at Neogaf. Thought it best left there. (No disrespect sir, Dave sir!)

In the original 1up article I think they were talking about how the PS3 is not worth the money when you look at these cross-platform games (i.e. the 360 versions are comparable or better). But we know with a statement like that is the start of a long and winding road.

If nothing else I guess this backs-up people's assertions that cross platform games aren't likely to be the places where you'll see the 360 and PS3 shine.

(Damn, I'd promised myself I wouldn't post in any thread that had a chance of being locked!)

multiplatform game code

Most multiplatform (game code) games will look, play, and sound the same regardless of which system out-specs the other. Especially sh**ty EA multiplatform game code.

There's a pretty clear difference in Marvel and Ridge Racer.

It was neat how they split the frame with the COD3 comparison, but they should have compared similar action sequences instead. Framerate is an important measure too...

Anyways... the NBA games  Amazing on both systems.

Some of the games look better on the 360 while some look better on the PS3. I see better lighting in many of the games on the 360 version however. I thought this was to be expected of multiplatform games that the games would be almost the same.

LOL these people didn't know Dave? wtf...

Back on topic:

I won't even bother to see the videos, I have seen enough already. I am no fan of MS, but there is nothing on the PS3 that makes it worth it's current price. In last generation they had the games on the PS2, and that's why it sold well. This time they have nothing: it's too expensive and lacks games. Also most people are underestimating the lack of rumble, quite a step backwards, very odd they left it out.

As we have seen since last year ATI's custom chip is quite amazing, and the in order IBM CPU is good enough to back it up. This time the difference in power beween Sony and MS is smaller, and I am not so sure about the PS3 being more powerful. Not to be rude, but other than the brand name what does the PS3 have?

I have no idea of how things will turn out but I dare to say the Wii and the 360 could outsell PS3 this gen.

Despite the compression artifacts, I can see a definitive lack of AA for XB360 in some videos.

Overall, all titles are looking similar on both platforms, thought.

I assume this is the video part of a 1up article posted yesterday titled "what the cell is going on", that basically compared the systems, asking if "next gen had been here all along".

Actually the PS3 did better than I thought. After the RR6 got compared to RR7 and came out looking noticably better in certain area. In these comparisons though, the games all look virtually identical that I can tell. The one thing that's hard to tell though is framerate, where some PS3 multi-platform titles have been reported suffering.

If you want to make excuses for PS3, these are all ports most likely of Xbox360 SKU's.

The one thing I found interesting is that, the identical PS3 titles always look "brighter" or "more washed out" or whatever you want to call it than the 360 counterparts. The brightness level is just is different. It's odd.

I know who Dave is. But still, if the forum rule says no "vs" threads, it should still be enforced regardless of who posted it.

Hong.

I noticed this too, and I really wonder why. Isn't gamma/brightness settings up to those of the gamer? The washed out brightness makes the textures on the PS3 look worse, but I'm not ready to say that's because the textures are actually worse.

Having watched a few of the videos, I think Dave's point was that, gamma aside, there really isn't much difference between the two.

Cheers
