Xbox 360 Fall 2008 update list (post #23)

New Xbox Experience: October 28?

Latest rumor pegs the release of the fall update with the release of Scene-It: Box Office Smash on October 28. The reason being that it's a 1st party title that has built-in support for the new avatars and the update we'll need to be on the disc for users that don't have Internet access.

Doesn't necessarily mean NXE will have to catch up with a game release... It will come out when its ready, everyone should know this.

If you had read the link you'll know that the NXE update will have to be included with the game. If the update isn't fully ready for a 10/28/08 release date, then the link postulated that the game could also see a delay in release. There's no sense for the public release of the update to not coincide with the game's release. It's not like they are going to release the game with the update and then wait to release to everybody else days or weeks after. Now I could see them releasing the update ahead of the game's release, but I'm sure they'll want to hold off on that as much as they can in order to give the update enough testing. I'm also sure we'll hear the actual release of the update well before Scene-It ships.

Thought this thread should fit well for this before making a new one.

If mods don't agree, move or delete it or whatever.

I believe this has been outed as a farce from cheap ass gamer forums to see if gaming blogs would pick it up (and therefore show how flimsy game blog reporting is, I guess). And apparantly it worked.

New video of avatar creation. IMO, its very wii-esque and very non-microsoft. A very organic feel to the interface which veers from teh traditional pinpoint, utilitarian, design of the original Xbox dashboard.

I loved it. The sounds and little effects show a lot of attention to detail. I totally agree it doesn't feel like a Microsoft concept. Can't wait to try it out for myself.

Fable 2 comes out the 23rd of October. I wouldn't be surprised to see it have the update on disc as well.

The avatars have a horrible style to them imo.

The new dash doesn't look good also. The wallpaper looks to be only half the screen with just grey on the bottom half, and the icons are far to big blocking the little room you had for the wallpaper.

When first unveiled I was of a similar mind - they looked too far between two styles to fit either, neither being cute nor natural. The oversized heads didn't seem to fit the rest of the style. But seeing this vid, it looks okay in motion, and the animations add a good sense of personality. I found the music confusing though. For the first half of the vid it looked to me like the marimba phrases were responses to button presses and the interface had a flOw audio-style. The whole thing sounded like it should be underwater to me! If it were my XB360, I'd be disabling the music.

I don't know, I was definitely charmed by the interface sounds.

And to all of the people who say it's non-MS, the Entertainment Division and Mac Division both have quite impressive UI work. Zune 2.0 and onwards looks like a big inspiration for the new update.

Really like how they make it likable without inducing massive amounts of cheese.

Every graphic on each channel will tie into your theme and change if you choose a different one. You can really see this on the Friends Channel – each of your friends' Avatars will stand next to a different graphic or environment. These graphics will match the theme you choose and will change dynamically as you navigate from channel to channel. But that’s not all; the themes will be subtly animated. This is some pretty cool stuff when you see it.
sweet!

I had a message in my inbox saying Live will be down tomorrow, Monday 29/9 for maintenance in order to bring me the new "Xbox Experience". Is that pre-prep or the real thing? I guess we'll know tomorrow.

According to 1up yours, it's not it. They said that the NXE isn't quite ready.

they normaly take it down a few weeks before a huge update. Its the way its workedi n the past with the spring and fall updates.
