Will CELL be good for MMORPG Server/Render Farms?

I read in maybe an EGM how MMORPGs work. Where some of the world and graphics is processed in the server farm at the companies site. Would this type of processing benefit by the cell processor? Are these the type of applications STI will market their chip too?

That's a software issue not a hardware issue.

How is this a hype item? (this wouldn't be FUD -- FUD is about reducing the competitor, not necessarily directly hyping your own product).

Kutaragi and STI has never mentioned anything about use in MMOG server farms...?

However, like Boomexplode mentioned it probably has more to do with the software than anything else. It seems like it could work, but companies aren't likely to just ditch their normal servers from IBM/Dell/HP/etc to try something new which probably wouldn't perform exceptionally better for the price.

Short answer is no... you don't want to use the Cell in *ANY* server enviroment. Lot's of reasons for this...
