Absolutely yes, agreed - There has to be a medium for the sound to travel through that is dense enough for energy to traverse from one molecule to the next, or else no sound (If it was dense enough, then the sound would change depending on any number of variables... Engine roar may have no sound at all, or only a tiny humm that only emits audibly, ten feet from the thruster... now that'd get me pumped for Star Wars 7, 8, and 9!!). The mentioning of accoustic phenomena involved with black holes, I pointed to as an extreme case, as it is one that is quite well doccumented at this point, and quite visible - Primarily to point out that the laws of physics don't really change from the ground, to space, just the variables, and that *if* there's enough matter for it to traverse, and an energy source to start it going, sound of some sort is possible, and even buffetting due to turbulance within the medium (KILER asked if it was at all realistic or possible).
Also, if I came off sounding arrogant or anything when I first posted, I'm truly sorry for that - Limmited bandwidth of the printed word, I suppose, and twenty-six letters can only be so verbose. In reality I talk about as loud, fast and angrily as Ghandi.
