Wiki like sections at the beginning of threads for consolidation of information

This forum could likely have increased traffic and become an even more popular go to place for indepth technical information on various subjects (eg nextgen audio hardware, esram etc)

Forum threads are kind of counter to information gathering. IMO wiki's are the best all around solutions for assembling collective community knowledge.

Is it possible to have a wikisection at the beginning of some threads at the mod/thread creators discretion?

Of course only approved members would be able to contribute. But It would lists who is approved, so you can contact one of the approved members and they could evaluated if they want to add your info.

Its quite time consuming to browse through the thousand post nextgen audio solutions thread.

Nope, not possible on vbulletin software. It isn't supported directly in xenforo but might be via an add on.

I notice circular discussion sometimes in huge threads, just because of the nature of threads and not everyone has read every post :smile:

In xenforo there is a great official addon called resource manager. It's commonly used to store files but can also have no "download" and can even be linked to offsite material. With none of the above it could be used to collate information from a thread as a resource can be linked to a specific thread which becomes the discussion point for that resource.

it sounds line a good idea. Sources could contain links to posts, and there could be a full blown wiki agregating all content
