What is THIS character used for???

In case your question is serious, it's a generic currency symbol.
Supposed to be used in the same way as $ and £. It's rarely used, but I have seen it on occation.

Of course it's serious! :)

it's a generic currency symbol.
Thank you. That's good to know!

I was wondering, because I suddenly remembered the dollar sign in (hehe!) ABC80 Basic was replaced with this thing, and I couldn't understand why! :p Perhaps it was some bizarre dislike for America in general and its currency in particular that prompted SI (the swedish standardization institute, for you foreign peeps) to make the change. :D

It's rarely used

More like never I'd say... I've never seen it anywhere other than on computer keyboards in "the real world".

It's actually rather useless info, since (as you say) pretty much noone use it. :D

Heh, I concidered adding that it was used in ABC80 basic. :D

Oh, and if you want to try it, here's an emulator a friend wrote:

Basic,

I'm a collector of useless info, and if I die without seeing another ABC80 (or ABC80 emulator for that matter) I'll die a happier man. Damn, that f'n machine sucked bad!
