What do you guys think of these?

Stupid security thing...that monster is from one of the the UE3 demos so this must be Unreal 4 footage or something along the lines.

It's from a game called "Gears of War"
And yeah, DRM sucks, especially for something like this.

Edit: on topic, it looks great. Hopefully this is a better indication of what to expect next gen, rather then that Perfect Dark crap.

mmm.... that soldier who runs away from the creature has a sort of chainsaw attachment on the gun. Very Warhammer like ;)

As someone noted in another thread, IGN states that the Gears of War footage was running in real time.

If this is a general idea of what AAA (graphically) titles can look next gen I will be happy. I know not every game will look this good, but this is smokin' hot!

Yea this game does look very nice, probly most games wil look AAA from now on because of various new technolgies.

Just depends on the frame rates really now, when i watched the MTV launch party perfect dark had awful slowdown :?

Not sure if it's because of video compression truncating frames, but I think framerates need to be smoother. Still, wonderful quality. Just give a smooth framerate and it will be complete.

its running off dev kits from what i understand . So expect smoother frames

I kept telling people to not expect much more then what we've seen in unreal 3. man that's one good looking game.

Sorry, no offence intended, but LOL! If anything, then this level of technology will further widen the gap between studios with good artists, and studios with awesome artists and a budget.

Technology doesn't make a game look good. It makes a game look technically advanced. "Good" or "great" are something entirely different...

Too bad it wont be released until 2006 :( (According to IGNs scoop).

Gollum--you hit the nail on the head. While power is relevant, the main issue facing devs this generation will be development of assets. Not all 5k models are created the same. Just looking at the car games for Xbox 360 shows that, with PGR3 looking drop dead beautiful, NFS looking next gen (maybe a bump above PC), and then Full Auto (is that it?) looking like this gen graphics with a lot of crashes and stuff everywhere.

This is where the tools MS/Sony/Nintendo make are important and stuff like UE3. UE3 is aimed at helping developers spend more time creating the game and the tools and letting the artists and map makers do some of the heavy lifting by making their own shaders and scripting their own levels.

You can have all the power in the world, but if you do not have the budget, time, and people to actually spend working on the content it wont look very good. I don't care if you throw 1TFLOPs of CPU power and SLI next gen video cards at it... power is only one factor in a good looking game.

There will definately be a lot of growing pains over the next 3 years.
