What are the odds that 9 GIGs WON'T be enough for Next Gen?

I worked at gamestop and we sold many more dreamcasts than ps2 . Many just went and bought dvd players at kmart and picked up a cheap dreamcast .

Just FYI

You know, anecdotical evidences are useless in most debates.
Especially when the debate is about the worldwide sales of a mass consumer product (Millions+ userbase).

I'm not discussing what you're saying, though. I just had to point that anecdotical evidences are not the best arguments to bring in a discussion about things of that scale.

Yet if this were true worldwide, then DC would be ruling the universe and not the PS2. So perhaps your store was an aberation in the grand scheme of things?

as important as eb's store

Once again I like how you pick the post that goes against sony instead of the first post that went with sony

Once again, too, this kind of remarks about people's preferences are not recommended if we want to keep the level of discussion as high as possible. ;)

Also, maybe Ty did just what I did, click on the last Page link and got your post as the first of the page (which didn't quote any other post), and just replied to that.

perhaps that should be discouraged .

If you want to particpate in the thread perhaps it should be required that you read the thread . Otherwise how are you going to be able to comment on what should be or shouldn't be in a thread if you have no clue what is in the thread except the last post .

That's not the point of the thread, nor a problem acutually, contrary to calling out other people bias and such, but you know that a thread isn't an immutable thing, static through time no matter what.

Ty, nor anybody, is not forced to read through all the thread to respond to anything precise in particular.
Ty addressed your anecdote about DC sales being superior to the PS2's ones. It was quite precise, no need to read the whole thread for that.
Now, why did he addressed your claim and not someone's else, well, that has no importance what-so-ever. Who knows? And more exactly, who cares?

Now, back to the subject, DVD drive sales in 2000... Wait, that's not the topic, the topic is "Will DVD9 be enough for the next-gen".
Now if someone has something to add about the storage required for next-gen game, just continue the debate. If it's about DC, DVD players, PS2 launch, just forget about it ;-) . Or start a new thread .

apparently it is otherwise i wouldn't be the first nor only person you corrected or commented on .

Except he has not commented on eb's and thus has validated them when they are the same as mine which were in response to eb's . Why ? I pointed out why he did this . Because one agrees with his views and the other doesn't .

If i want to ask him why in a thread where he posted his comments I see no reason why I shouldn't be allowed to do it . Just like he is apparently allowed to comment on any post with out commenting on others then so to am I . I find what he picks to responed to and ignore very telling and since this is the thread he posted it in , I posted my opinion .

If you want to go back to the topic then you have to start spliting posts off from the first or second page in the thread as that is when it started going to sales in 2000 .

You would know that if you didn't click read last post though wouldn't u ?

Once again, you cares?
You think he's biased? Great! He, on his side, probably think you're biased, maybe? Great!
But who cares? Should this kind of thing be a matter of public discussion on this technical forum? No...
Is that kind of personal off-topic discussion usually more or less accepted on the forum? No.

If someone's point or reply strikes you as driven by bias more than it is by reason, address the point made itself, or just ignore the person altogether.

What kind of remark is that? I mean, really...

Once the topic is more than a few pages, you're forced to click on the Last Page, and then go back if needed.
And yes, I know that the topic went off topic a little ago, hence my joke about the topic being price of DVD Players.

<sigh>

On Topic!

apparently you care or you wouldn't be argueing with me . As for the point it self . It was the same point i made adn I pointed it out to him and pointed out that another made the comment and I replied to it to show that thigns change from place to place.

Its your comment that u made earlier that you simply click newest post and don't read the thread .

How can you mod when you have no clue what is going on the in thread. What happens is what we just saw . You responding to the wrong person and letting the one who originaly made the comment go by just fine

If you want to continue pm me .

Of course I care, talking about other people preference and calling their bias is againt the rules and it is a bannable offense.
That's why I care reminding people not to do that.

I made a comment saying that I didn't read the thread? </shrug> </sigh>

Probably too late, don't you think?

I called the on topic twice, but you decided that discussing my suggestion, about not talking about other member's supposed bias inducing preferences, was more important. So...

The thread is locked.

If someone wants to continue the discussion, either start a new thread or PM me or Sonic, to do a pruning.
