What Anime are you watching now?

My Hero Academia, which I’m still going through S3, must be the most consistently great long running (ish) anime I can remember. Love it.

Having loved Sword Art Online S1 and S2 and waiting for the hours to pass for dub for the season finale of S3, just diving into Log Horizon S1 which is also great.

Both appeal to the EverQuest and WoW MMORPG player in me.

If you are into pirated manga, try

Kono sekai ga game dato ore

It have similar premise with SAO and log horizon (goes inside video game).

BUUUUT! The main character properly embrace the fact that he is INSIDE A VIDEO GAME.

No "the power of friendship/anger/mental" nonesens! The MC exploit all the "video game" stuff.

E.g. Oh an undiscovered cave that mysteriously already have torches being lit up. Let's bring the torch back and use it as "master torch".

High level Monster will spawn of you hunt in one place for too long? Let's deliberately hunt too long and spawn-camp the spawn point!

Edit: right now 25 people are confirmed to be dead.

Edit: 33...

Edit: it seems that Kotaku constantly updating their article regarding this incident.

Very sad. Recently enjoyed two of their works (Evergarden, A Silent Voice).
Godspeed to the 26 who lost their lives and my prayers to the families.

Kyoto Animation, known as KyoAni, was founded in 1981 and has produced popular animation shows including "K-On" and "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya".

The studio also released a standalone feature anime A Silent Voice in 2016.

One of KyoAni's series, Evergarden, was picked up by Netflix for a global market.

The studio is also known for paying its animators a regular salary, breaking with the industry's standard of paying per frame which is seen as putting extreme pressure on staff.

Oh man, that is just horrible. To die via fire. That's my worst fear is that I'd die in a burning building. I'd rather get shot with a gun than be burned alive.

I can't imagine how horrible it must have been for the victims. That someone would purposely do that to other people is just...horrible.

Regards,
SB

Earlier, the information from the official said that there were 60 people either injured or dead.
20190718-164037.jpg
7 dead, 17 cardiac arrest (probably because of the smoke?), 10 severely injured, 6 moderately injured, 20 minor injury. So right now basically those outside the category of moderate and minor injury is dead.
I'm so sad...

According to the BBC:
BBC News said:
Japanese officials said the victims were dead or "in cardio-pulmonary arrest" - a formulation routinely used in Japan for victims who have died but whose deaths have not yet been officially confirmed.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah Noooo

What why aaaaaaaaaaaaaah

Gods it's awful what happened to KyoAni! So many people, so young and talented!

Kyoto has been a leader in how it treats its employees too, it's not like it was an animation mill. This one was just heart wrenching for me when I read it.

These folks did Haruhi and FMP, they're one of the best.

Deepest condolences to those affected, may those who've passed be at peace. I don't know you, but I thank you for the many hours of happy you gave me and will always remember you fondly.

i just rewatched Violet Evergarden EP 3 and then... reading

This is just horrible! Some of the eyewitness accounts is unthinkable. Where are the fire systems/exits?

Fantastic post Orangpelupa, couldn't agree more and thank you for telling us more about them and your personal experiences with 'em. That fits with everything I've heard about them, and it just makes it that much more awful. :(
