Well, I guess it's official now...

The Austrians opted for a slightly different approach this time: they sent the führer-to-be to the US :devilish:

That Reuters article took general statements of dissatisfaction with politics/politicians and mixed it with one of the notorious BILD columnists
Now that's some professional analysis...

Most of that article is based on babble of BILD, which is a tabloid of the worst kind.

You can get an impression of BILD here:
www.bild.de

Front page asserts that Michael Schumacher kisses like a world champion.

Then there is "Babe", the page 1 nudie, and she insists that despite her name she is not a little piggy. Thanks for sharing, Babe!

In their news section they have an article raising the question whether Arnie's wife Maria Shriver is a new Jackie or a second Hillary.

In an editorial the very same Franz Joseph Wagner quotet in the Reuters piece asserts that German politicians are "Blah-Blah politicians" who hide behind complicated language like physicians behind latin medical terms. Then he goes on and critizes two of Germany's most reputable newspapers (FAZ and SZ) of doing the same.

Reading between the lines he basically claims that everyone who doesn't talk on caveman-level like BILD is trying to mislead the average German population which supposedly is too fucking dumb to understand politicians and non-tabloid newspapers.

You might notice that they don't even have a politics section on their web site. And in the general news section they only carry the most trite or controversial political stuff (which doesn't stop them from exaggerating it even more).

BILD is synonymous with bullshit. I can remember that they had an article a few years ago claiming that Michael Jackson bought himself a new body.

Back in high school the teacher handed out a BILD article in German Literature class as an example of political satire. We analyzed the contents etc. and it never even occured to us that it wasn't satire until the teacher told us at the end of the class.

You shouldn't believe everything you read...
