Virtua Fighter vs. Tekken?

If it does happen, I hope Namco do the engine for the game as they always look considerable better than VF games in my opinion.

For directly competing iterations, this has never, ever been the case. Given what we've seen of Tekken 6, this pattern will continue.

Tekken 5 looks better than VF4 in my opinion. At least the PS2 version I haven't played either game in the arcades.

Which version, EVO looks better than VF4 on PS2 thanks to the flicker-filter. I would probably agree that T5 on PS2 has the edge over VF4:EVO/PS2, but VF4/Arcade looks better overall. Also, I find the Tekken 4/5 characters to be quite low-poly relative to VF4 and TTT (maybe the best looking Tekken on PS2).

Comparing console versions of arcade games generally does them a horrible disservice, especially VF. VF was the flagship title of some seriously powerful and specialized hardware (the Model series), while during that time Tekken was restricted to increasingly tweaked variations on the PS1.

The main problem with a crossover is the drastically differing systems. Control is a relatively minor quibble as long as all characters can, for the most part, perform the same actions, but I can't really think of any way to mesh things like okizeme, evades, throw escapes, clashes, etc.. They might just go the "groove" route. With either system, though, the Tekken characters will probably have an advantage.
