Very charming DQ8 movie.

How deep are the plots/story arcs in DQ? I always sort of wrote them off and figured they were ~Golden Sun level (not a bash, but those games are written at the grade 1 reading level...).

One can say that the 'tradition' and 'charm' of a DQ is that stories are presented in a simple, child-friendly and un-menacing manner. Having said that, there is a lot of story in a DQ, and playtime usually reach ~80hrs.

Hmm.. the production values certainly seem to be through the roof on this one! I can only wonder what it's budget is... (if the rumoured $50 million budget for FF X is to be believed..)

Square and Toriyama should crank out another Tobal :!:
Another Tobal would be lovely but who would they get to make it? Dream Factory has sort of fallen apart since the PlayStation days... maybe Anchor or Genki?

Totally continuous world, everything in the world is 'defined'(for lack of a better term). If a town is that big from the outside, it is that big from the inside. Seems like the Japanese equivalent of an 'Elder Scrolls' game - without the generic-ness, with a lot more story and events.

Got this on pre-order, but wonder if it can survive the official release next Saturday.
