unreal 3 demo movies

Is there a video of the "squad of soldiers getting ambushed by aliens" demo in there?

No. It's mostly demos of diferent shaders and light effects and some physical interactions between different objects. Only 4 goes a bit further and shows a whole city.

these are the GDC Unreal Engine 3 demos. my question is; how accurate can we be if we say that is what nex-gen will look- at least initially?

I think this is a good show of what next gen will look like and i don't think it will look much better even at the end of its life. This is a serious effort from a huge company to make a sm 2.0 engine + game with alot of new effects

can anyone give a link to the part of the demo where a character gets ambushed? I have to see the multiple characters on screen each firing a weapon.

it seems that part was not released/filmed

WonderChu is quite correct, I've been scouring the net for them for the last day or so and nothing has turned up yet. I've found every video I can, but still none of the "Squad" scene and none any higher quality than these (excluding the very first ones from GDC 2004). Grrr agonizes!!

OT...

I have a new GDC interrest. "The Room". Has anybody seen that, or have video/any decent pictures? All I've gotten so far is teased. I have two, very small images and no video to speak of. I know the technology is related to "Project Dimitri" (which I also have a little imagery from... Astounding) but other than that, nadda.

there are demos of the new engines like Havok and the rest, but it seems that they are all behing closed doors for now. I am hopefull we will get a leak soon after GDC is over.
about the Squade demo, I think it is the one demoed bythe Marque (spelling?) engine. they also claim to the the most powerful.
in any case, worst case senario is that we will see these at E3.

Dimitri? From Molyneaux? Share the love, please¡¡¡ Apart from this I haven't seen anything...

The Room

In the final demo, Molyneux showed a game that toyed with perception itself. The Room takes place in a hyper-realistic environment that players can interact with in every conceivable way – from reading the pages of the books on a shelf, to examining the wood grain of the floor boards, to advancing time and watching the slow decay of an orange.

He also demonstrated the game's “portalsâ€￾ – windows that lead not only to other places in the game, but to alternate versions of the current place in the game that have some aspect of reality altered. Like an interactive M.C. Escher painting, Molyneux showed off a portal through which existed a slightly smaller version of the current room – and through which any thrown object would emerge about 30% larger.

That last game, Molyneux said, is not intended for release – but demonstrates some of the simple yet innovative game design going into the next generation of games.

So you haven't seen video, or pics, or anything of either "The Room" or "Project Dimitri"? The reason I was asking is that I have some reason to believe they use the same renderer.

Later

PS: You have a PM.
