UK nintendo wifi trailer.

Wait, wait, this is just some regular wi-fi connection that you can connect some devices together in a limited area?
Looks like they are trying too hard to mislead it to make you think you can connect to anyone over the whole world just with your DS or whatever. :p

And if it's for the rev so you can use wireless connection to internet they can't make you have a wi-fi router or access point! (the blueprints didn't show an ethernet port!)

Your right they did make it seem like that. Are you sure you can't connect to anybody, anywhere in the world?

You seem to be heavily misinformed. You can go online with both DS and REV. Rev is said to have wireless card built in, hence no ethernet port. As long as you have a wireless router at your house you can use that OR you can use the wireless usb adapter that nintendo has to go online. How else do you think the online downloading of their old games going to work?

But this is has actually nothing to do with either of those. The point that the original poster is making is that within the trailer itself nintendo mentions REVOLUTION for some odd reason even though it is hidden, its very hard to see the words "revolution" in the back ground. You will most likely miss it unless you go frame by frame. Why in the world would they mention revolution if thats not the final name?

That's just the thing, you NEED to have a wireless router or accesspoint to go online. (I have one but I wouldn't want to buy one just for this reason.)
But this trailer makes you think that you just need the rev or the DS, like if you were in the fucking jungle with your DS and connected to someone in Sweden, just with its über nintendo-wifi.

So it's no different to the Centrino adverts then?

Yeah just like you need a modem to get online. You are making a mountain out of an ant hill. Its not that big of a deal. Its just a advert, just like geezer mentioned. Every online company does that. Its just to let people know that now they can go online with their DS.

I find it funny that you called Shifty, "Geezer".

But I agree it seems to be no big deal. You actually needs wires just to get the internet, but taking weaksauce's approach Nintendo is in the wrong because they say wireless. It's cool Sauce I think you kind of took it too literlly.

Well I've seen one where someone with a laptop walks around a working place and is connected all the time, they're adverising the "wirelessisively". Nintendoo on the other hand advertises internet as if it was theirs, they even make it seem like it's something new.

And no a modem is not the same. If you want to go online with a modem you'd have to buy a modem AND a wireless router for rev. I just think it's a stupid requirement instead of just giving it an ethernet port.

Do they even sell wireless routers in africa?

Yes, of course you need one. Duh?

You're stretching to find stuff to bitch and whine about. It certainly didn't make me think anything like that. It's a commercial, and as far as they go, a fairly decent one with some cool ominous music in it. I don't know what you were smoking when you saw it, but there's no jungles or anything in it at all I assure you.

In the UK there was a series of ads for Centrino showing people in the middle of nowhere connecting wirelessly to the internet. I didn't see sign of a satellite connection system either :p

This Nintendo trailer, though very melodramatic, is sufficiently vague as to mean nothing other than you can players anywhere in the world. On some games/systems, you're stuck playing players in your globally area, such as NA players stuck playing MA players, and EU playing EU, and neither playing against New Zealanders or South Africans for example. Certainly there's nothing to imply all you need is a DS and you can play anyone else on the planet without needing an access point. They don't make a point that you do, but since when have advertisements ever been informative?!

Oh I didn't know people we're restricted to their continet. Well props to nintendo then...
Though I think they should still add an ethernet port, I don't like wireless, gives you bad speed (if you have 10/10 :p)

Well, actually they've got the choice. E.g.: Mario Kart offers play vs friends, rivals, players of your continent or global vs game mode.

Weaksauce meant other systems/games. eg. I know some PS2 games are continent restricted, if not all of them (?). I dunno about XBLive!
