The Witcher 3 : Wild Hunt ! [XO, PS4, NX, PS5, XBSX|S, PC]

Ok, I have a question: Will I need a "Game completed game save" for accessing the expansions? Or can I fire up the expansions without completing the game?

I mean, a friend is begging for the disc and I know he will never give it back cos he knows I have a review copy too. Now, th eproblem is, the save game from my retails disc is not recognised by the review copy. The review disc creates it s own save game folder. So, if I give the retail disc to my friend, I will be left with a game which does not have my save game in which I completed the game. I want to play the expansions, so I am concerned the expansions might ask me to complete the game again ! IS that so? Is that how expansions work?

Don't suggest to give him the review copy, cos I won't and can't.

Ok, here is the issue, my review copy is CUSA-01439 version, which i found out is the german version while my retail copy is CUSA-01440 , which is the russian version and hence the save games are incompatible. This is pretty strange since usually we get the EU version here.

So, does any one here have a save file from the CUSA-01439 version here. The version is printed on the disc.

OR

Can anyone guide me to some site that hosts a game-complete save for thisversio?

Went back thinking I will look for the Wolf school gear and the game pulled me into its quests again and it was past midnight before I knew it ! the game.

But as I was playing the Skellige most wanted quest I got stuck at a bug, the werewolf just won't die :( ! I looked it up, its supposed to be fixed now anyways and re installing the dlc is supposed to fix it but it just ain't working for me.......I feel so bad considering do many of my earlier decisions tied into it and it felt amazing .....and then it got stuck right at the end :( ! Anyone knows any workaround?

Maybe try a different saved game after re-installing the DLC?

I too had one quest bugged during my gameplay. It was the one with cheese factory and I finished it successfully but then next day bought magic item from shop again which reactivated this quest without possibility of finishing it again as it was already completed.
Didn't make big difference as this quest already gave me experience points but it was a bit annoying to see 'Unfinished Quests' on the quest list :(

All Mastercrafted Wolf School Armour and Swords  !
did two more Witcher Contracts and the game remains fun as before, although stuff is easy now. The map is still full of markers, though, wonder how much they crammed into one game !

Forgive my curiosity, but why? Selling it to him would be illegal I suppose, but there's nothing wrong with giving it away for free, or with lending it to someone else for unspecified periods of time for that matter.

Usually I share my games openly with ll. Even rightnow my Bloodborne is with a guy miles away cos he was talking to me about it and I gave my Metro Redux account to a guy in Dubai just cos he used to be a net pal when ps4 had just launched and he came back to his ps4 after a looooong time :) and I just felt like spreading the cheer. Even my FC4 and Unity are with another friend when I haven't even completed them. I think games are for happiness and so don't mind sharing.

But this particular friend is the kind who would grab ur copy and run for it even if you gave it for free ! He still doesn't admit that he ran away with my Orange box back in the day !!! So, no way I am giving him the review disc, cos I don't know where he will vanish with it and i am very very sure he will just sell it off later for some other game and I don't want that to happen at all ! So, no review copy for him. I am okay with giving him the retail disc cos he won't sell that off as he knows it cost me money to buy it. We all have some really weird ppl who just own't leave us, he is that kind :) !

I have this game since a while now, but I am finding it increasingly difficult to get into so far. I've maybe invested around 3-4 hours of play time so far, but I think one of the issue is that I am not playing it regularly enough. Also, the problem I have is that the game is just too big, overwhelming. I just seem lost. My latest gripe for example is, that I keep running into mud zombies or whatever they are and they easily kill me. I also don't have much gold (around 400 I think) and my equipment seemed to be broken, so I needed to find a smith to repair them - the repair costing me around 60% of the gold I had. All the while, I'm not quite 'getting' where I am supposed to go in the game to progress to build up skill etc. It says I need to follow the 'scent' and use my witcher skills (one of the L buttons, yeah I know), but I've somehow deviated from where I was supposed to pick up that scent and now I am utterly lost. And the map is just so big and confusing.

Does anyone have some general advice, fool proof tips on how I can get into the game?

Like, how do I know which battles are safe to enter? Which confrontations to engage?
Where do I find more gold (except excepting quests)
Is there a point in picking up all the plants and herbs I see?
Any good battling ground?
What should i buy? What shall i sell?

Note; This isn't the first game of this sort I'm playing. I actually played quite a bit of Skyrim (though that took a long time too till I finally got into it), but Witcher just seems so much more overwhelming and complicated to me. :(

I thought the fact that TWIII actually had an economy system that didn't become utterly meaningless a few hours in was quite refreshing. Money is quite hard to come by, especially early on, and it's easily spent too. I remember pillaging all the corpses lying in the mud on that one large battlefield in the Orchard area because I needed some coin to fix my gear.

Your best bet to get money, experience and gear is definitely to do quests.
Don't really have much advise, really. The game clearly indicates whether enemies are too tough for you to take on. That said, even enemies deemed appropriate for your current level can still become a real pain if they attack in numbers, so that's something you should be aware of as well. Some enemies - like the drowners for example - are just complete dicks. Hated fighting the little fuckers early on. And try to keep a healthy stock of Dwarven Spirit. It refreshes all your spent consumables when you meditate.

Thanks! BTW; How does the game indicate whether an enemy is too tough? I must have missed it in the tutorial/notice (there is just so much to take in)... is it by color or something?

Red skull is only if the enemy is clearly over your level, plain red is over your level and green is around your level or lower. Every enemy has the color but also the number of its level visible next to the energy bar.

Good way to get money is loot the corpses and sell the stuff away. Swords and other gear often pays handsomely. Phil is so early in the game that he doesn't really need worry about that so much. Just do some guests that are proper to your level and try to avoid getting hit in combat :)

Re-iterating what others have said. A freshly minted character can expect to be broke for a long time thanks to repair costs and you can expect to be dying, or running for your life, a fair bit too.

Unlike many games, the low levels are not easy levels.

As for losing the trail of scents, there is an option to make the trails visible on the mini-map which I strongly recommend. Quite a few of the scents trails are not continuous so it's easy to lose track of where you should be going.
