Is it even possible to fit 16 memory chips on a single side ?!

The card probably has got only 8 mem chips :!: Just my guess. If you notice on the first picture, you will see that the back plate was pocketed into a slot to fix some ic. How could it be possible to fix another 8 mem chips at that thin gap!! The back plate to me, it would be used for secure that card than to be a cooling.

I am counting time for how long Fuad will snap this pictures on the INQ

Edit: Typo and add some points...

I want pictures from the retail version.

Why is the back of the cooler open?

I see in front there is a open/close thing, but when its open than many air going out in the other side? i miss something?;)

Look at the R600 GPU back bracket!!
Could anyone here can confirm that the size of the chip would be larger or the same as the G80 chip?
The bracket on the back is the same size as that used on R580 equipped boards, according to my photochoppery.

It's notable that R600 is closer to the backplane than R580 is, hinting that there's less gubbins between the GPU and the DVI outputs.

From the backside of the pic, i dont think the memory chips are on the back because they isnt any space between the back plate and the PCB.

What is the reason for the difference of oem version and the retail version?

My guess would be that the card carry very heavy heatsink, and then for OEM, they need a long PCB to fix it and AMD/ATi just only use the setup to benefit them by fixing the fan there.

The PCB, it would be the same for OEM and retail (my guess). Just different form factor of card.

maybe that's one of those "half" R600s that Crytek supposedly had earlier. That would possibly explain the apparent lack of memory modules on the back while still supporting the 512-bit theory.

I can't help wondering if they're piggy-backed, in pairs.

I wonder just how old this board is, and if that might be an explanation. It wouldn't be the first time an IHV has played games with early boards to hide their eventual intent.

For Crossfire, I presume. So one card can suck in air from the bttom and the other from the top and not the small space between the card.
