Rockband 1 came with a 4-port USB hub. The instructions in the manual says you can use any hub as well.

I keep mine plugged in for the wired instruments.

The USB ports on both systems are standards compliant and therefore support hubs.

I agree with you on the legality, and DrJay's choice of 'illegal' was unfortunate. I agree with his use of 'sane', though. I don't think streaming full-quality ripped Blu-Ray discs via extender as a way to match the PS3's Blu-Ray capability to be 'sane'.

Sure, heh. I mean, it's $100 for the bd-rom drive, but you have the hidden cost of the terabyte class storage you would need and the computing time required to transcode the movies to something the 360 can play. I don't think the 360 can actually handle the highest bit rate h.264 movies out there. And then there's the electricity cost of running both your server and the 360! It all gets very stupid if you go down that road.
