The AMD 9070 / 9070XT Reviews and Discussion Thread

AMD doing well is a result of hard work being realized to fix up problems they have either not had enough resources to address in the past, or weren’t a priority, now that CPU is running really well, Lisa’s eye may now be more focused on getting the GPU side of the business to be running just as well. It’s great to see AMD hitting the potential we’ve always known that they’ve had in them.

Nvidia has always had just 1 business to worry about, and they are juggling more than ever to try to expand their business further. Perhaps this has led to massive mistakes. It’s hard to tell because we aren’t given percentages of failures. The driver issue is, unfortunate, and I hope they learn from that. But we should expect a fix in a reasonable amount of time.

MOD MODE: I've done a bunch of pruning for responses wholly unrelated to the 9070 and 9070XT. There's already a thread for NVIDIA drivers, which I think should certainly include complaints about their drivers. But that thread isn't this thread so let's keep the topics clean shall we?

Edit: And if you don't like the moderator actions taken, your course of action is to click the report button, not to post more drivel in this thread. Anyone who wants to act like a petulant child and purposefully post more off-topic responses will rack up a few warning points, up to and potentially including being given a non-optional vacation from the forum.

You can flash RX 9070 with XT BIOS. It won't give you the disabled CUs etc obviously, but it will get you XT clocks & power limits. Transplanted BIOS should apparently be from "as similar card as possible", in the PoC by Gurdi at PCGH he used Asus Prime XT BIOS on Prime non-XT.

Edit: card name won't change because it's not set in BIOS anymore, XT is Navi 48 revision C0 and non-XT C3, per W1zzard at TPU

The only game here where performance is limited by RT is CP2077, and it's very obviously not "on par" there.
It's a weird proposition. Would be good at 5060Ti16GB price point but at $500? Even at MSRP it'll likely be worse than 5070.
