Thank you guys...

I always gets a good laughter when you start to make pros and cons about either ATI/NVIDIA or something else...

The thing i want to ask you is about the war that was with AMD/INTEL(is)...

The question is simple : What do you think the 3d speed of today had been without AMD and Nvidia??

Btw what do you think of the r350 chipset? It seem like a good chipset but i dont like the ASIC thing that been changed!

I think yous a little confused. R300 is a chip from ati called radeon 9700. Maybe you mean intel 850 chipset?

Wow! A P2-350 w/ 128MB of PC100 ram, 13.6GB hardrive for the low, low price of $2355.

We have really gotten spoiled by falling hardware prices. To think you could buy the best of the best P4-2.53 system, with pc1066 rdram, massive hd, and a high-end 3D card these days for like $1500...

Unfortunately Intel is laughing all the way to the bank, whilst AMD is not. Let's keep in mind that competition is only healthy for all companies involved if all companies can somehow turn a profit. AMD seems to be competing so strenuously that they're taking some dangerous financial gambles. Hopefully these will pay off some day soon.

Remember that it can take a long time for many companies to switch away from a company (Intel) that has done so well for them for so long, even when another company either has much better price/performance, or just plain better performance.

Basically, this means that Intel has built up a huge mindshare buffer that they've essentially been working off of to keep ahead finincially. If the two companies continue on their current paths, however, this buffer will run out before too long. With AMD's Opteron already selected for a new Cray supercomputer, and the apparently excellent performance with this upcoming processor, Intel will need a whole new architecture to outperform with AMD in the desktop space by late next year.

Btw, the first clue that AMD will be starting to get ahead will be an evening of the price/performance ratios between the two companies.

My (net) pal discuss this in and out..
I was thinking of buying either a 9700 non pro or something similar from nvidia if they can get something out soon!

However i was wondering what the speed of a p4 would be if their was no rival aka AMD, maybe 2 ghz, and much more expensive!?

Btw i thought the new core from ATI was codenamned r350, sorry for that one..

Well, the R300 is the brand new actually released core (Radeon 9700/Pro, and seemingly the 9500/Pro).

The R350 is a likely core to be released in the future and we have no real idea what exactly will be new about it. I suspect all the joking references to other "R350" items is related to a rather jaded response reflex to discussion about future cores some may have developed. :p

It also may have had to do with the possibly confusing nature of your Intel/AMD/nVidia references in your questions.
