TES V: Skyrim

There's some pretty memorable stuff. I'd recommend visiting the blue palace in Solitude sometime. There's a quest there that starts with some guy coming up and petitioning the queen person there. Note that the quest is not over once you've gone through the first dungeon.

Also, have you tried the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim? I haven't yet, but it does begin in Windhelm (you quickly get a quest to talk to some kid upon entering the city).

Do you mean the quests about the Wolf Queen? (in which you first have to trek through a cave and subsequently through crypt. In both cases you simply kill everything like in 100 other quest lines) Anyway, I completed pretty much anything there is to Skyrim. All that's missing are the civil war related quests.
The problem I have with the Skyrim quests isn't really the narrative. It's the machanics. There is no role playing in it. The only real choices you ever have are accepting or declining entire quests, and I simply think that's hugely disappointing after Fallout 3 and Fallout NV did it so much better.

Can I marry the Jarl of Solitude? I want to make babies with her.

Matter of fact, I can't figure out how to marry anybody. Not even a little bit of flirting. Am I that ugly? :-|

My character is a female redguard and I brawled with that fighter woman in the Bannered Mare in Whiterun. After I lost my housecarl, I went to her to get a follower and after running around with her a bit, I got the dialogue option "do you like me?" or something like that. She said yes, I had the choice of what to say so we married in the Temple of Mara in Riften. Only 3 people showed up, though. Guess I haven't made that many friends yet.

Yeah, you just have to talk to the priest of the temple in Riften (Maramal, I think his name is?) and ask him about marriage. After that, you can marry anybody who you have a positive disposition with. I married that Mjoll the lioness lady that walks around Riften. I didn't realize that she has this squire dude that follows her around everywhere...

Hi,

yes Im some kind of noob when it comes to Anti-Aliasing. Maybe some nice board-member may explain me again( Ive been reading the whole thread), what AA and AF modes I should choose (GTX 570) to get optimal graphics.
Please be so kind to explain, which settings I have to make Ingame (or in the INiS/Launcher) and which are for the nV Inspector.

Thank you!

I'll answer the easy one first: AF to 16x in the game launcher. That's a no brainer for any modern card.

AA is really down to your preference. Possibly the easiest thing you could do for very good overall image quality would be to use nVidia inspector to select 2x2 supersampling, and keep the in game launcher AA to 4x. If you find it a bit choppy, drop this to 2x. I only have a 470, so I'm guessing at the settings you could get away with. 2x2 SS may be too much or possibly even you could go higher (though I doubt it would be smooth).

All the post filter talk is getting slightly more serious, although not really that difficult, but there will be some trial and error on your part as the results will largely more about your tastes than any real measurable 'betterness'. Post AA won't touch a nice supersample for overall quality anyway. It's great for me though, as I game in stereo 3D with an older card, so some nice cheap post-AA is welcome. I don't even use MSAA as it gets too choppy, but stereo gives a 1x2 SS impression anyway as the eyes combine the images from different angles.

Set the Skyrim Launcher to 8xMSAA and check the FXAA box. That's easy and will give you great image quality.

Also do 16xAF like bigtabs suggested.

Forcing SSAA though NV Inspector is a little more involved but if you're willing to go that route you will have bullshot image quality.

Yes, thats the route I ant to take. Im already quite familiar with the NVI, so that wont be the problem.
What I ask myself is, what setting do I use in the launcher, when Im forcing SSAA or even SGSSAA in the Inspector.

thanx a lot!

Sorry for double post, did not find the edit button (if there is one^^).
Im quite informed about PostProcessing, and currently going with the Skyrim-Enhanced Shaders-Project http://skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=822
which is a combination of the ENBB-Series-patch and some adjustments to the color-palette, to get rid of the unnatural blue, which is all over Skyrim.

(check here for details: http://skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=822) I simple want the highest possible AA-Quality available for my rig (gtx570). If the frames will drop too much, Im gonna overclock the card.:devilish:

I think you should follow bigtabs instructions, where he says to set the launcher to 4xMSAA and set NVInspector to Enhance Application Setting.

I would drop post-AA if you're going to be using SSAA, but it might be worth your while trying it on and off. Might get rid of a few shimmering edges for you if you have it off.

Did I mention I found out the secret for Dragonplate armor? You have to play until 4:00 in the morning and then wake up to your alarm while you're sitting in your computer chair. Trust me it works I was wearing a full suit in the morning.

BTW I went into a mine in The Reach and came out with some gold. 54 gold ores to be exact.

Well, just finished the Dark Brotherhood quest line....I have to say, that is definitely the best quest line yet :)

It's actually of a reasonable length, unlike the others that feel like they're over before you've begun. It almost feels like the Dark Brotherhood quest line was finished first, and then the others were cut because of development constraints.

I also discovered just how incredibly useful the "investment" perk can be. This requires 70 speech, and lets you invest 500 gold in a merchant. Turns out that the amount the merchant gets varies quite significantly from merchant to merchant. The merchant in Riverwood that gives the quest for the golden claw gets his max gold put up above 10,000! This makes selling stuff at high levels dramatically more convenient, in case you want to use the expensive, high-level skill trainers. Of course, you have to get your speech up to 70 first, which takes a little bit of doing. I just used the skill trainer at the bard's college for that (oh, and the bard's college quest rewards are *nice*).

I get very very good IQ with 8xMSAA + Transparency Multisampling and 12xAF (dunno if there's a perf hit for 16xAF but I can't tell the quality difference at all...) at 1440x900. I leave FXAA off now. And the game stays at 40fps which is where I capped it except for Markath where it dips into the 30s.

This is all with a GTX260. At least with these outdated engines we can get bonkers IQ.

Finally got my smithing to 50, now I can make Orcish Armor, which is pretty badass seeing as I'm still wearing steel. I'm trying to find some Orichalum ore, which apparently is always flowing to you in rivers when you're NOT looking for it. Same goes with the other ore types. I got to Riften for the first time last night, and noticed a pretty steep FPS drop. Like from 60 to 40 FPS. It's a little absurd how the frame rate will sporadtically drop for no apparent reason, considering my system. I'm hoping Bethesda resolves it, soon. However, since the patch, I haven't encountered a single CTD. Which is nice.

I always find the easiest way to get the ingots is to just browse the smith shops. There are two merchants at the entrance of Whiterun, and a third behind the Champions' hall, for example.
