I just saw that Gamespot has given it 9.2 which is very good (by GS standards) IMO. Looks to be a must have.

Oooooh, goodie.

I''ve been excited about this one since I first saw it in the arcade a few months ago. Namco's really given this a nice graphical upgrade. Some of the stages, like the giant space station and the one set in the burning village, look amazing.

There's life in the ol' PS2 yet. :)

This soul calibur/VF fan is not amused...

Still I did wonder what had happened to one of SONY's strongest franchises.

Tekken 5 sort of pretends that Tekken 4 never happened.
That is all i wanted to hear.
Come on ... Tekken4 was not that bad, it seems Namco took the best of Tekken3|TTT and Tekken4, added some polish, all the old and some new characters and some good balance. Can't wait to kick some ass with it :D

Nonono, Tekken4 was a total piece of crap. Even Tekken Tag was much better, and it came out before T4!!!
Everything about Tekken4 was a letdown, the production value, which are usually some of the best on Sony's machines, was very low.
And it was just not fun, especially because the already-bad storylines were the worst ever in the series...
I'll be picking T5 up the day it comes out.

The only thing I could really wish is for right now is online play (duh) and it would have been nice to see Tekken 1-3 graphically enhanced somewhat to not be such an eyesore, but still offer the same gameplay.

Also a mode where you can beat on Yoshimitsu and Heihachi for whoring themselves out to Soul Calibur. :p

i'm looking forward for a PSP version of TEKKEN with online batlles! that would rock hard kingkongstyle

or actually any fighter..

I thought Tekken 4 was alright, not exactly awe-inspiring but not bad either. But I don't really see how anyone can think Tekken Tag is better than Tekken 4. I booted up TTT a while ago and it just felt extremely unresponsive in comparison to Tekken 4, heh. I haven't played Tekken 3 in ages, so I'm sure it's 50% nostalgia and 50% truth to it being the best in the series. But anyways, I've bought all the Tekkens thus far so I'll probably pick this one up even if all the reviewers besides GS hate it.

Tekken Tag's main advantages over Tekken 4 - for me - were the much larger selection of characters and, of course, the tag matches.

Despite T4's pretty 3-D backgrounds, TTT is the game I'd take with me to a desert island.

Err... I'd take other things but hey...

The moment one decries "storyline" as a reason to dislike a fighting game... :p

The point was, a fighting game doesn't need storylines. So if they must put it in, the least they can do is make it more interesting than "Juan Carlos had a restaurant. He needs more money or it will be closed by the Mishima Whatevatsu. He decides to enter the Mishima Whatevatsu so he can keep his restaurant open. With the help of his Panda."

I mean.. COME ON!!! Some imagination! :devilish:

Long, long ago, there were a man who try to make his skill ultimate. Because of his bloody life, it's no accident that he became involved in the troubles.

Makes me want to emu that game right now.
I pre-ordered Tekken 5 the other day so I could get the art book with it. This'll be the first Tekken I've owned, because I could tell they went all out with this game. The art style, clipping, and animations are a cut above every other Tekken game, and seemingly the Soul Calibur series as well. I can't wait to play this game on my big screen. This is such a good month for PS2 owners, but a bad month for their wallets. My GT4 should be arriving Monday. Gotta save up some more for that Driving Force Pro wheel. ;)

Picked up my copy this morning! Tekken 5 isn't just a return to form for the series - indeed, there's never been a Tekken like this.

It's gorgeous, for one thing - and though it moves fast like earlier Tekkens, there's never been one this hard hitting before.

I was grinning and laughing out loud for the few hours I played today. This one's a winner for sure. :p

Startling how primitive and downright ugly the original three Tekkens were, though - put those on and you'll gain a real appreciation for how far we've come!

Imagine how Tekken 7 will look on PS3/Xbox2 when they put in Tekken4 and 5 in the same package to "show us the difference"....

Im hoping by tekken 8 or 9 on the ps4 it looks like 2 real guys beating the crap out of each other. Or better yet DOA 6 and 2 women! :devilish:
