According to Mainichi Simbun article (machine translation), today at Tecmo's Dec. 2004 consolidated earnings briefing, the president Junji Nakamura disclosed that the company is developing game software for the next-generation PlayStation or next-generation Xbox. The actual titles and other information are to be announced after E3. He avoided to answer the question whether the forecast for the next fiscal term includes next-gen softwares or not since it may reveal the release dates of the next-gen consoles.

Nakamura also evaluated next-gen consoles saying "it makes easier to draw computer graphics, but at the same time requires ability of creators".

Tecmo plans to start 2 large online games in 2 years.

Tecmo still produces Playstation titles, it is Team Ninja that have problems with the Sony-system... ;)

There are more Tecmo games on PS2 than on Xbox.

Yeah, but without Team Ninja´s games, Tecmo´s support is pretty generic.

Yeah that's not the point. The guy seemed to think that Tecmo somehow has something wrong with Sony, and that's not the case that's all.

Supporting Xbox over PlayStation is not "wrong". It's been the work of PR departments to have people incorrectly see such issues in terms of right and wrong.

The lawsuit claims the ninjahacker.net users decompiled the code to several Tecmo titles, including Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive 3, and Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball, and figured out how to create their own "skins" that change the appearance of game characters. They swapped modding techniques and hundreds of custom skins over the website message board.

The defendants are not accused of pirating the games, and the modifications and methods at issue appear no different than those employed by hobbyists on other video games - from Halo to the Sims 2 --for years. But according to the lawsuit, Tecmo suffers in the practice anyway.

"Most of the skins posted on the Message Board by defendants show Tecmo Characters with appearances that are different from the original Tecmo designs," the complaint notes. "Several... are designed to make Tecmo Characters appear naked."

*cannot .. stop.. the outburst .. of irony..*

muahahahahahah...

It's not entirely out of line considering some of his other comments, and of course their main emphasis has been with Team Ninja titles... It indeed doesn't bear out across all their support, but "that's not the case at all" doesn't really apply. There have indeed been some crossed swords.

...but in the end it's their bean counters that will win out. :p ;)
