They are stylised, just like in Spiderman or Horizon Zero Dawn.

Games like Detroit or Quantum Break aim for a photorealistic look.

It's quite obvious that the artistic style is different. Despite that, ND games still look somewhat realistic but it's rather a consequence of their incredibly high asset quality.

I agree different art direction... For the slightly stylized face and character they do this for escape the unncanny valley.

It's quite obvious that the Uncharted style is different from that of TLoU as the gif above shows. One is cartoony, the other is not.

The style doesn't look any different from a game like Detroit. If anything Detroit looks less realistic.

Clearly the same art style... :

ND never tried in any of their games a photorealistic rendering. TLOU2 is no exception and it's obvious when you look the game... actually, very few games on the market aim for photorealistic graphics : Battlefront, Battlefield, QB, Detroit, GTS, DS.

See? Detroit looks like plastic in comparison to TloU2. The evidence is crystal clear.

they use younger version of Lindsay Wagner in game, so cool ... now I want younger Jack Nicholson in some game
She also appears as her old self in the photograph Sam carries with him.

It's your opinion, but Detroit still looks more "plastic" than Uncharted 4 or TLL. You can have a stylized look that doesn't look like "plastic".

So, your point is irrelevant.

The facial animation beats detroit imo.
We need to take in consideration few things -

#1 - Scale. Detroit has 10+ hours of facial animations. DS will have maybe 1-2.
#2 - Time of project start - Detroit tech was set in stone very long time ago. DS is a newer game, devs built their pipeline arround newer tech.
#3 - A Hideo Kojima game - IMO, I think that Kojima is even more obsessed by actors than David Cage. :D He will talk to Mads Mikkelsen for hours on set to make him produce best kind of mysterious movement of eyebrows, and techs that record that will be ready to sacrifice their lives to capture all of that. :D

"Stylized".

I see nothing in your answer that contradicts my point... Death Stranding even uses photogrammetry and real actors which further proves that both studios don't aim the same art style.

Your gif doesn't look more realistic than that and you admitted yourself that TLL aims a different art style than DS...
