Square-Enix 360 Exclusive game: Sylph pics and vid!

There were gameplay pics but I couldn't make anything out in them, other than big splashes of light. A SE exclusive is the key point. Shows they're happy to test the water even with the current weak sales of XB360. I wonder if MS are funding this? SE did show at the XB360 E3 event.

Why is this? didnt Sony own 40% of Square? (maybe I am wrong, dont remember where I readed that). That should be enough to at least make the game not exclusive and with a better PS3 version I guess...

(that 40% figure look bogus, but someone said it when talking about FF Spirits Within and the low price of the Square´s stock at that time and Sony buying it)

I don't think Sony owned 40% of Square, but anyway the fusion with Enix brought Sony's proportion down.

EDIT:
I've just found it:
Under the deal, one Square share will be exchanged for 0.81 share in Enix, which will be the surviving entity.
...
Sony's game-making unit, Sony Computer Entertainment, which owns 18.6 percent of Square, said it welcomed the deal as its business partners would be reborn as a stronger company.

So their share is now 7,53%

EDIT2: source

Whatever number you likely heard was from before Enix "bought" Square. Sony has much less stock ownership now, as Enix and Square are joined (Sony's total share ownership probably dropped to a 1/3rd or so of what it was originally -- Enix was quite a bit bigger than square, in terms of stocks, and they are now one).

I don't think Sony was all that into controlling Square (who knows?)... I know for sure they didn't want a very important publisher/developer going under (since Square was key to Sony during the PS1 era, and PS2, albeit a bit less). Square still made other platform games after Sony sucked up that stock, iirc, so whatever power they had they weren't flexing it to make Square exclusive (probably all they really cared about were the main franchises anywho).

It was about 20% they bought. It's now about 9% apparently, after the merger with Enix. At 20% or 9%, Sony had no executive role at Square/Square-Enix - that is, they were not involved in decision making at Square. That should have been pretty obvious with the relative levels of support for DS vs PSP, for example!

Besides, somehow I don't think Sony is crying in its cornflakes over this ;)

lol..since when can SE makie shooter games?

SE is stupid, they could make a boatload of money by giving 360 much more than token support, but instead they stereotype the entire userbase as MMO players, and FPS players.

Whatever...maybe I'll buy a PS3 in 2008 when FF finally comes out.

well, who knows? they made one of my favorite games, Einhader, and it is a shooter. You could see it like a minor title, but whatever console that get it, will be my favourite console.
