Sony tries to trademark "Shock and Awe" phrase

 That's in poor taste.

Wait, how so?

I don't see you protesting these games:

Arab-Israeli Wars: Situation 13
http://www.avalonhill.com/default.asp?x=articles/gen/aiw20030321

Panzer General III: Scorched Earth
http://www.panzergeneral.com/

Avalon Hill's Blitzkreig, Talonsoft'sThe Operational Art of War II: Flashpoint Kosovo, ISI's Zulu War.

I could go on. I mean, Shock and Awe is the name of type of contemporary military strategy that's only a subset of a larger policy of Rapid Dominence. Saying you can't name your game based on a military theory is BS, people have been doing it for years (eg. witness all the Blitzkreig games). I mean, go away from media spottlighted Video game industry into the table-top/hex-based gaming area and this is status quo.

The only diffrence is the political climate.

Not to sound like an idiot here, but how can they trade mark a military term? Would that then mean that the military could no longer use this term when, say, speaking with the press?? How exactly would that even work?

Not opposed to a game called "Shock and Awe"...I don't think Sony will actually be able to put out the "shock" or the "awe" part....but that's a console forum discussion :D
