Sony PlayStation 5 Pro

Also, after a month or so with the PRO, can I just say that's it's a MUCH, MUCH better upgrade than the PS4 Pro was? Basically every game runs better, at times much better, without patches. It's like I upgraded my PC and games just run better without having to worry about patches like the old days. Well, unless you're Bloodborne but that's a whole other issue :runaway:

I just fired up Atlas Fallen (mediocre but was free on PS+ and it's kinda fun) and I just left it on Graphics mode, it runs super smooth and that's that.

Very happy.

Ooops! Never mind, I had Atlas Fallen on performance mode after all 😂 But my point remains.

The First Berserker: Khazan Demo Performance is all over the place on Playstation including PRO according to this video

Playing the game on a VRR screen (lg C1), on base PS5 the game is almost flawless. I only saw a drop in a shot overlooking the forest. But they should make a non vrr mode that sticks more closely to 60.

The game is really good btw, aside from some tweaks needed to the aggro of some enemies. Worth it to try the demo.

There is also a section of the game that uses volumetric fog and that looked really good.

In all the videos that dismantle the PS5 Pro, do any of them list the chips with id's? Or rather does anybody identify the WiFi chip?

Not sure if anybody did say anything about the wifi chip, I did not follow this thread to closely , but I finally found the chip.

This video did not specifically mention the chip part number, but if you zoom in you can read it.

Which is J20H106, I googled it, but first hit was in a language I could not read, so I ran it through chatgpt.

So if its a 2x2 device then you can get a theoretical link rate of 2.5Gbps, Based on it being a 2x2 , 4096-QAM and 160Mhz bandwith., which is my guestimate.
Wether it supports MLO or not, I am not sure of.

Im considering getting one before an eventual price hike, are there any upcoming games that are worth it?
I'm sure that GTA 6 will have some tangible advantage on the Pro. Other than that, there are so many games coming out this year, like Doom the Dark Ages, Ghost of Yotei or Silent Hill F.

Remember that the pro is overpriced for what it offers, it's not that different from a base PS5 for most games.

But also there's a lot of games already out that run beautifully on the Pro. Unless you've played them all already! I actually replayed Spiderman 2 and probably a couple more on the Pro.

I dont think I would notice RT reflections during gameplay in gran turismo unless I looked for them, but Callisto looks like a different game with RT. Seems to depend alot on the game. I played space marine 2 on my XSX and it was very blurry.

Do you regret buying yours?

I was really surprised spiderman 2 worked so good in balanced mode for me, being such a fast paced game and all.
Since I have an OLED 30 fps doesnt work for me any more, so maybe it would be nice to have a pro the rest of this generation.

I don't have it, but I have been following the DF coverage on it. I'll probably get it if it gets to around 500-600€ used. With how the global economy is going, I might have to wait a while 🙃

Im considering getting one before eventuall price hike due to tariffs.

I have followed their coverage a bit. Sometimes I have gotten the impression that some games actually look worse on the pro? =/

The first PSSR implementations have been kind of dodgy from third parties, but the tech is improving, as we can see from recent games like Kingdom Come 2 and AC shadows. FSR4 is also going to come to the Pro as a new PSSR version, so that should be a big quality improvement. We will see if it holds up to the RDNA 4 version on PC.

That sounds promising. I´m leaning strongly toward getting one.

I bought one. Thery´re not exactly cheap.

I tried Gran Turismo in RT mode. When me and my GF focused on the car ahead of me we managed to see the reflection of my car in it for a second before I drove of the circuit because I wasnt paying attention to the road.
Totaly worth it.

I´m playing thru Space Marine 2 again. The image quality is much improved most of the time as I remember it. I wish the framerate was more stable, but the poor image quality did actually hurt my enjoyment of the game before.

Callisto protocol look amazing in RT mode. Sadly not a very good designed game otherwise but it does look amazing.

Spiderman 2 is supposed to look very good with everything set to max and uncapped framerate.

Hogwarts and Silent Hill 2 is apparently worse on the pro from what I´ve read
