Something Interesting to check out

Ooooops..

i didn't see that, a friend gave me the url

CryENGINE

Q: Are there non-commercial licenses of CryENGINE available?

A: No, Crytek does not provide a non-commercial licensing program.

Q: How much is the Licensing fee of CryENGINE?

A: Pricing details will be not shown to public. It will presented only to potential licensors after signing an NDA.

Q: I am creating a game, but I don´t have money to license an engine. Is it possible to get a license with the option, "License fee will be paid after commercial release of game"?

A: No, we don´t follow this strategy and are not interested in to deal with this

that but that's .. too bad :(

Any upcoming game licensed this engine ?

Since it seems like Doom III is using a technique similar to this I wonder if they will make the tool available to mod makers. This is also similar to how displacement mapping works. It would be something if an engine could use displacement mapping plus bumpmapping or just bumpmapping depending on the computer's power.

This is also similar to how displacement mapping works.

Displacement mapping works quite the contrary - using low-poly model and displacement map the high-poly model is calculated by video card.

The technology seems to be similar, but the models look nowhere as good as those in Doom3. I guess Kevin Cloud is just too good at what he does ;)
Still, can't wait for the eval plugin for Max to test it.

I was looking for a Free non-commercial game engine preferable directX

it's been a while since i've done any serious Programming and i don't think i could cook something up like that

i'm having nose bleeds trying to get the look i want with the shaders in maya
