Has the rumoured big announcement been and gone? If so, what was it? Or is it being saved til later? Or didn't it really exist?

You should know by now that every hyped big announcements disappoint.MechanizedDeath said:I was wondering the same thing though, about the megaton. But seeing as most of the insiders at GAF got thoroughly owned (seems they were bamboozled by their sources), then maybe it's just not gonna materialize. It clearly wasn't Team Ninja, not like it would have been that big anyway. And it can't be FFXI for the X360 since that wasn't that big either. There is still lots to be shown/announced for the PSP and PS2, so maybe that's where it's at....maybe. PEACE.
Was Nintendo supposed to have a Megaton in the works? (I'm not being sarcastic, I'm really asking.)
Thanks for the answer. So, their announce was the GB Micro (Very cool gadget, by the way)?PC-Engine said:No but they did show the GB Micro which was a big surprise. Before that there was talk about a GBA SP+ with the DS's higher quality screen by a few based on Nintendo's announcment that they'd show a new version of GBA at E3.
Was it actually a big surprise, though? Among the geek community (the only ones who really noted or cared about the info) we pretty much knew a "new model GBA" was coming, and my natural assumption was another case design and perhaps an added feature or two. (I assumed built-in wireless at the very least, since it's a theme they're playing up with the DS, Rev, et al.) As it turns out, it was basically just new case design + a few nice changes (brighter screen and a common headphone jack) and one not-so-nice one (smaller screen). Most people I talked to about it assumed "smaller" and "differently-shaped" and "trendier fashion" and on the whole it just ended up a bit smaller and less "original-GBA-shaped" than we thought. And with no real features added, which is a bit of downer.PC-Engine said:No but they did show the GB Micro which was a big surprise. I can only assume, then, that they're prepping for the eventual price drop. I do think, though, that they would have been better off adding a competitive function or two instead of applying it ALL to that small a form factor.
