Wow! What's next, eh? RV350 with 8 rendering pipelines and DDR-II?!

MuFu.

Chris, considering RV350 is now rumored to have DDR2 (as you yourself noted), I didn't think MuFu thought we know him well enough to detect sarcasm in only the first half of his sentence. :p

Assuming MuFu is toying with us, if the RV350 is indeed 75mil transistors, how can they fit eight pipes and R300-equivalent shaders in the same package? Can solely moving the vertex shaders to the CPU attribute to a 40mil transistor savings, or did they dumb down other things?

If I'm missing the joke, feel free to poke more fun at me. ;)

Well, I think the evidence is mounting that DDR-II is in fact not significantly more expensive than DDR-I. If this is true (which is plausible...it looks like very little has actually changed that would related to manufacturing, though I cannot profess to have intimate knowledge about the detailed specs of the architectures), then it could mean very good things for the memory bandwidth of lower-cost parts, since DDR-II has an easier time running at higher clock speeds.

Wouldn't it be funny if the Xabre II is faster than the GFFX?

Why kick on someone that's already down on the ground ? (other then to make sure that it's dead :))

I'd say , wouldn't it be funny if it was faster then the R350 !! 8)

I hope that with another player in the market we will see a faster drop in prices. :) Then everyone wins or at least the consumer does.

Hey, I was trying to be realistic here! ;) But, yeah, I would find that pretty amusing if that turned out to be the case.

well, that's not so interesting, but Xabre II being scalable architechture... I really would like to hear what this practically means...

EDIT: or, who gives a damn anyways... crap is crap even if it would be coming from 100 chips simultaneusly.
