Six does seem a bit much, doesn't it? "GL" is something they have often called adaptors in Win Hardware Manager, but not so much cards themselves.

The gl is probaly firegl related

Shenanigans!

... but hopefully of the promising sort, as it relates to availability. Can we infer that they've played with the hardware, or just received some early info from ATI that allows for specific detection?

Aren't the GL's for the professional crowd?

Yes, Orton has stated more than once recently that they will be aiming at improving their workstation market share with R520 derivatives.

Hey, that was my question! Didn't you get that?

I suppose there are 3rd and 4th options. 3rd would be some spelunking in Catalyst, public or beta. 4th would be just, y'know, some kind of technical arrogance in thinking they know what they'd look like.

Obviously those aren't product names, those are the code names. . .I'm kinda liking some Catalyst action of some sort.

According to some private chat sessions with a hardware editor, most companies allready have 8 and 16 pipe r520's to play with ... just not the 24 pipe one..

either because ati does have a problem with yields or they want to make sure that their 3dmark score doesn't leak 2 months before launch..

BTW..

it said M56.. that's TWICE as much as the Mobile X800XT or M28.. can we assume that this is a full fledged R520 crammed inside a laptop?xw

:) *smack*

I mean .. how much pipes etc.

it's a R520 so most probably still 256bit. If the XT is 24 pipes and the Pro 16 .. the SE could be 12 pipes? Speeds 350 Core and 450(900) Mem?

What do you think it could be?

US

I know there are 8 pipe r520's as well.. not sure if they are considered plain or SE

Wouldn't the SE fall under the Plain? From the previous range .. it seemed so.

So the Plain range(which I forgot) is then most probably 12 pipes .. with the SE using 8pipes.

Hmm..

Would the Crossfire versions be any different from the Normal versions? Looking at the X850XT Crossfire and the Normal X850XT card .. the only difference is the crossfire chip, right?

Would we be seeing the R5x0 Crossfire cards out immediately as well? Will a normal Crossfire mobo work with the new R5x0 cards?

US

I THINK (that's my personal opinion) that crossfire for R4x0 is add on gimmick.

xfire was never intended to use a compostion chip and dongle and I think that r520 will show us the real crossfire. r4x0 crossfire is just a money wasting add on..

And yes, SE is allways below vanilla... and most of the time it has a hampered memory bus and only slightly lower clocks..

But I wonder how much the SE would hurt with the new memory controller and all..
