    I remember this:

    RV515: 4-1-1-1
    R520: 16-1-1-1
    RV530: 4-1-3-2
    R580: 16-1-3-1

    is it still correct? :)

(Has it ever been correct? )

Will there be different model RV530s and is an 8 pipe/128bit bus out of the question for their low-end one? :|

mikechai: As I remember, these 3 possibilities were mentioned:

    pips - TMUs/pipe - ??? - Z/Stencil

    pips - pxls/clock - textures/clock - Z/Stencil (3 textures per clock - strange)

    pips - TMUs/pipe - ALUs/pipe - Z/Stencil (even weirder)

edit: tEd: you were faster :)

On thing I can tell you is that whoever is in charge of board schematic designs for this series has a sense of humour as the low end board design is known as "Marvin the Paranoid Android", the PRO SKU is "Trillian" and the XT "Arthur Dent".

The XT could be very useful for the buttered-fingered do-it-yourselfer. Have an oopsie, and it throws itself at the ground and misses. . .

Edit: Not to mention the hot new Catalyst feature. . .SEP field for visual artifacts & anamolies. . .

    Apparently, it's a paranoïd robot.

But my sources say it's not a simple robot, but more like 1.3x a robot, some sort of extreme paranoïd robot.

Some people said "It's incredible", of course thoses people probably aren't Ati engineers, and they probably weren't talking about the RV530. But nevertheless, the words "it's incredible" have been dropped, and that's something.

Also, expect the extreme paranoïd robot to be orthogonal.
Yep, that's right, orthogonal, this robot ain't taking no shit, he's a real orthogonal playa.

More than anything I'm interested to know if the low-end RV5xx series will still have fp blending enabled unlike the 6200 (assuming the R5xx does have fp blending of course). Don't really care if it'd be too slow.

I just can't help but think/hope it goes something like:
Number of ALUs per SIMD unit
    Something
    Number of SIMD units
    Something else

my guess is the first number is the number of ROPs (that would look quite like the whole gf6/7 series ;))
    this makes sense for me.

wilder guess for the rest :

TMUs per pipe / fragment pipes per ROP / Z and stencil

that'd give a really nice RV530 (256bit bus could make sense? with low end RV530 cards fitted with 128bit memory anyway)
and a monstruous R580, I wonder if it would be doable.

Z/stencil stuff is done in the ROP isn't it?
    if so "double-pumped" Z would be needed on a 4 ROPs RV530

    my two euro cents.
